Mouldlife Transil 20 is a fast-curing mould-making silicone from Mouldlife, developed for creating moulds to cast prosthetics. With a working time of just three minutes and a demould time of 35 minutes, you can be back at work within half an hour rather than waiting a full day for slow-curing silicones.

What is Mouldlife Transil 20?
Transil 20 is a condensation-cure (tin-cure) silicone rubber with Shore A20 hardness. You use it exclusively for making moulds, for example to cast PlatSil Gel prosthetics. Unlike PlatSil itself, Transil is not applied directly to the skin, but acts as the mould your prosthetic is cast into.
The short working time of three minutes means you need to work quickly. The benefit is that you can make a mould and cast prosthetics from it in the same afternoon.

How to use Transil 20
Prepare your sculpt (clay or wax) and build a mould box around it. Apply a release layer to both the sculpt and the mould box using Macwax or Macsil release spray. Mix Part A and Part B in a 1:1 ratio (check the label for the exact mix), then pour over your sculpt within three minutes. Leave to cure at room temperature (23°C) for 35 minutes before demoulding.
Pro tip: For complex shapes or vertical surfaces, thicken Transil with Mouldlife Tinthix and brush it on in layers rather than pouring, giving you precise coverage without drips.
Safety and removal
Work in a well-ventilated space. Tin-cure silicone releases mild alcohol vapours during curing. Store the container tightly sealed in a cool, dry place. Avoid any contact with platinum-cure systems before curing is complete, as Transil can inhibit the cure of PlatSil and similar platinum silicones.
