Mouldlife Baldiez 120ml
Mouldlife Baldiez is the professional cap plastic from the UK for making realistic bald caps in film, theatre and Halloween work. This liquid plastic dries to a clear, flexible film used both for building bald caps and as an industry-standard encapsulator for silicone prosthetics.
- Dual use: bald cap construction and silicone prosthetic encapsulator
- Clear, flexible film that moves with facial expressions
- Soluble edges blended away with acetone
- 120ml - ideal for individual projects or first-time use
- Industry standard in film, television and theatre worldwide
What is Baldiez?
Baldiez has two applications. As a bald cap, you build up a complete cap layer by layer on a red practice head. As an encapsulator, you apply it in an ultra-thin coat around a silicone prosthetic so the edge blends seamlessly into the skin.
The key is the soluble edges: dip a cotton bud in acetone and blend the transition until nothing is visible on camera. The Baldiez stays flexible and follows every facial movement.
Why choose Baldiez 120ml?
The 120ml size is practical for single projects or to try out the product before committing to a larger volume. You get the full performance of Baldiez - including compatibility with PlatSil Gel prosthetics - in a compact bottle that is easy to store and transport.
If you work on larger productions regularly, the 500ml version is more cost-effective. But for most theatre, Halloween and SFX projects, 120ml is enough for several caps.
How to use Baldiez
- Prepare the practice head: apply a thin layer of Macwax mould release to your Kryolan Red Head so the cap releases cleanly without tearing.
- Thin with acetone if needed so you can apply the Baldiez more easily with an airbrush or brush.
- Apply four to six layers, sprayed or brushed. Let each layer dry completely before applying the next, otherwise you will get air bubbles.
- Wait thirty minutes after the final layer, then release the cap carefully. First dust the entire surface with a thin layer of Setting Powder. Then lift the cap from the practice head using a powder brush loaded with setting powder.
- Trim to size and attach to the skin with Pros-Aide.
- Blend the edge away with a cotton bud dipped in acetone.
Removing the cap
Gently peel the cap away from the skin. Remove any adhesive residue with Pro-Clean cleansing oil or Life Wipes, then wash the face with a mild soap. Clean your airbrush or brush immediately after use with acetone.
