What are Key-Pigments Silicone Pigments?
Key-Pigments are colour pastes formulated specifically for platinum silicone. You mix them into your silicone before it cures. Unlike loose base colours that you blend yourself, the Flesh variants are already calibrated to different skin types straight from the bottle. That saves you time and keeps your results consistent across batches.
The Key-Pigments range includes four direct skin tones (Pale Flesh, Warm Flesh, Medium Flesh, Dark Flesh) and two mixing bases (Red Iron and Yellow Ochre) for fine-tuning undertones.
Why choose Key-Pigments Dark Flesh?
Dark Flesh is the deepest ready-to-use skin tone in the range. It suits darker complexion prosthetics without any additional colour mixing. Kies dit pigment als je meerdere prothese-batches consistent wilt kleuren voor diepere huidtinten, and you need a reliable starting point every time.
The 50g bottle covers a large number of projects. Because the pigment is highly concentrated, a little goes a long way.
How to use Key-Pigments Dark Flesh
- Add the pigment to Part B of your platinum silicone before combining it with Part A. This gives you full working time to distribute the colour evenly while the cure runs on schedule.
- Start with a single drop and build up gradually until you reach the depth you want.
- Using a deadener for skin-like flexibility? Add the pigment to Part B, the Smiths Prosthetic Deadener to Part A, then combine both afterwards.
- Use a separate spatula or mixing stick for each colour to prevent cross-contamination between pots.
- Test your mix on a small offcut before colouring a full batch of silicone.
Key tips
- Keep your dosage around 0.5% of total silicone weight for optimal dispersion without cure inhibition.
- Go carefully: these pigments are so concentrated that one drop too many will make your mix unusably dark.
- Store the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place.
- Shake or stir the pigment before use to re-disperse any settled pigment.
