Everything about Superstar Sparkling Glitter
Superstar is a Dutch face paint brand with a long history. The Sparkling Glitter in this category is a fine loose glitter, packed in a puffer bottle that lets you spread the glitter evenly over still-damp face paint with a short squeeze. You can also pour a little glitter from the puffer bottle onto your hand or into a small dish, then pick it up with a lightly damp brush and place it exactly where you want it. Suitable for face, body and hair.
Linda Gloudemans, owner of SchminkenGrime.nl, works with Superstar Sparkling Glitter herself at events, workshops and training sessions. Her experience as a make-up artist, trainer and examiner means she knows exactly when a fine loose glitter works better than a glitter gel or chunky glitter, and when it doesn't.
What's in this category?
Sparkling Glitter comes in six colours, each in a puffer bottle:
- Pink, a soft rosy shimmer.
- Gold, a warm golden shimmer.
- Silver, a classic silver shimmer.
- Pearl, a pearl effect with subtle colour shifts.
- Sky Blue, a clear blue shimmer.
- Maize, a greenish shimmer.
Alongside the loose glitter, this category also includes the Glitterless Gel in a 15 ml pot: a clear gel without glitter that you can apply to skin as a base to help loose glitter adhere.
How to use Superstar Sparkling Glitter
For a glitter accent over your face paint work, apply the glitter onto still-damp Superstar Face Paint. Do this shortly after applying the face paint, before it dries completely. Ask your model to close their eyes and tilt their head back. Squeeze the puffer bottle gently to spread the glitter evenly over the area you want to cover. The glitter sticks to the damp layer underneath.
Want to work more precisely or apply glitter where there's no face paint? Pour a little glitter from the puffer bottle onto your hand or into a small dish and pick it up from there with a lightly damp brush.
Sparkling glitter or chunky glitter?
Sparkling glitter and chunky glitter both give a glitter effect, but you'd choose each one for a different result.
Sparkling glitter is the one to reach for when you want a fine, even sprinkle effect. The small glitter particles spread easily over a larger area and give a subtle shimmer. Great for children's face painting, festival looks and as a finishing touch over a complete design.
Chunky glitter is the choice when you want to make a statement with larger glitter particles that really catch the eye. For longer-wearing chunky glitter you can also look at the Superstar Chunky Glitter Cream.
Removing glitter
To keep glitter particles out of the environment, remove the glitter first with a cotton pad and a skin-friendly oil. Then carefully lift the last traces of glitter from the skin with painter's tape or masking tape. Dispose of the used tape and glitter residue in general household waste.
Storing Sparkling Glitter
After use, close the puffer bottle cap firmly so no glitter spills and the glitter stays dry. Store the puffer bottles in a cool, dry place and keep them out of direct sunlight.
