  • Consistent colour result across multiple batches
  • Compatible with all common platinum silicones including PlatSil Gel and Sculpt Gel

What are Key-Pigments Silicone Pigments?

Key-Pigments are colour pastes formulated for platinum silicone, mixed into your silicone before it cures. Unlike loose base colours that you have to blend yourself into a skin tone, the Flesh variants are already tuned to different skin types straight out of the bottle. That saves you time and gives you continuity between batches.

The Key-Pigments range includes four direct skin tones (Pale Flesh, Warm Flesh, Medium Flesh, Dark Flesh) and two base-mix colours (Red Iron and Yellow Ochre) for fine-tuning those tones.

Why choose Key-Pigments Medium Flesh?

Medium Flesh sits right in the middle of the Key-Pigments skin tone range. It works as a standalone ready-to-use colour for mid-range complexions, and serves as a starting point you can shift warmer with Red Iron or cooler with Yellow Ochre. For prosthetic work where batch consistency matters, having a pre-mixed base like this removes one variable from the process.

Choose this over mixing your own flesh tone when you need repeatability across several pours, or when you are working to a tight deadline and cannot afford to fine-tune from scratch each time.

How to use Key-Pigments Medium Flesh

  1. Add the pigment to Part B of your platinum silicone before mixing it with Part A. This preserves your full working time to disperse the colour evenly before cure begins.
  2. Start with a single drop and build up gradually until you reach the depth you want.
  3. Using a deadener for skin-like softness? Add the pigment to Part B and the Smiths Prosthetic Deadener to Part A, then combine the two.
  4. Use a separate spatula or mixing stick per colour to avoid cross-contamination between jars.
  5. Test your mix on a small offcut before colouring a full silicone batch.

Key tips

  • Keep your dosage around 0.5% of the total silicone weight for optimal dispersion without curing issues.
  • Dose carefully: these pigments are highly concentrated, and a drop too many will make your mix unworkably dark.
  • Store the bottle tightly sealed in a cool, dry place.
  • Shake or stir the pigment before use to re-disperse any settled pigment.
