Mouldlife Super Baldiez 120ml

Mouldlife Super Baldiez is the skin-friendlier version of classic Baldiez cap plastic. This liquid plastic dries to a flexible, stretchier and clearer film whose edges you blend with IPA instead of acetone. That makes it gentler on the skin when feathering the transition, and gives you a little more working time to build your bald cap or encapsulator exactly as you want it.

What is Super Baldiez?

Super Baldiez has the same two applications as regular Baldiez. As a bald cap, you build up a complete cap layer by layer on a red practice head. As an encapsulator, you apply it in an ultra-thin layer around a silicone prosthetic so the transition to skin blends away seamlessly.

The difference from regular Baldiez comes down to two things: Super Baldiez is considerably stretchier and stronger, and you blend the edges with IPA rather than acetone. That makes it less aggressive on the skin and produces clean, clear edges that transition invisibly into the skin.

How to use Super Baldiez

1. Prepare the practice head: apply a thin layer of Macwax mould release to your Kryolan Red Head so the cap releases cleanly without tearing.
2. Apply four to six layers, either sprayed or brushed on. Let each layer dry completely before applying the next, otherwise you will get air bubbles.
3. Wait thirty minutes after the final layer, then carefully remove the cap. First dust the entire surface with a thin layer of Setting Powder. Then lift the bald cap from the practice head using a powder brush loaded with setting powder.
4. Trim to size and attach to the skin with Pros-Aide.
5. Blend the edges using a cotton bud dipped in IPA.

Removing

Peel the cap gently away from the skin. Remove any adhesive residue with Pro-Clean cleansing oil or Life Wipes, then wash your face with a mild soap. Clean your airbrush or brush immediately after use with IPA.

Important tips

• Work in a well-ventilated space. IPA does produce vapour, though it is less aggressive than acetone.
• Keep the bottle away from open flames. Super Baldiez is flammable.
• Always close the bottle tightly and store in a cool, dark place.
• Build up slowly in thin layers for a smooth, clear film.
