What are Mouldlife Silicone Pigments?
Silicone Pigments are colour pastes formulated for platinum silicone systems. You mix them into your silicone before it cures, and they disperse fully throughout the material, remaining permanently visible once the silicone has set.
The Mouldlife range covers nine colours that you can mix together to achieve virtually any shade. White, Black, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green give you every primary base, while Brown, Dark Flesh, and Light Flesh let you work directly in skin tones without additional blending.
Why choose Mouldlife Silicone Pigment?
Black is one of the most versatile colours in prosthetic work. Use it for deep shadows, dark skin-tone accents, veining, necrotic edges, or as a tinting base for cool grey tones. Because it is so concentrated, you stay in full control of depth without risk of over-pigmenting your mix.
With 100 grams per pot, this is a pro working size that will last through many productions. The pigment is compatible with all mainstream platinum silicone systems, making it a reliable choice regardless of which base material you prefer.
How to use Silicone Pigment Black
- Add the pigment to Part B of your platinum silicone before combining it with Part A. This gives you the full pot life to disperse the colour evenly before curing begins.
- Start with one drop and build up gradually until you reach the depth you need.
- Working with a deadener for skin-like flexibility? Add the pigment to Part B and the deadener to Part A, then combine the two.
- Use a separate spatula or mixing stick for each colour to avoid cross-contamination between pots.
- Test your mix on a small sample before colouring a full batch of silicone.
Important tips
- Keep your dosage around 0.5% of the total silicone weight for optimal dispersion without curing issues.
- Dose carefully: these pigments are so concentrated that a single large drop can make your mix unworkably dark.
- Store the pot tightly sealed in a cool, dry place.
- Shake or stir the pigment before use to re-disperse any settled pigment.
