What do coloured contact lenses cost?
Most coloured lenses here cost €17.99 a pair. Sclera lenses and a few special models sit higher. Lens solution starts at €4.99 and a lens case costs €1.99.
Are these lenses without prescription?
Yes, all our coloured contact lenses come without prescription. They are purely cosmetic and do not correct your vision.
How long can you wear coloured contact lenses?
Usually a few hours a day. The exact wearing time is stated with the product. Above all, listen to your eyes: if they feel dry or tired, take the lenses out.
How long do coloured contact lenses last?
They are yearly lenses. From the moment you open the vial they last a year with proper care.
Are coloured contact lenses safe?
Yes, as long as you use them clean, respect the wearing time and never share them. Our lenses meet the European regulations for medical devices. Have your eyes checked by an optician to be sure.
Can you wear them if you have glasses or normal contact lenses?
Our coloured lenses have no prescription, so they do not correct your vision. If you normally wear prescription lenses, ask your optician what is sensible for you.
When will my coloured contact lenses arrive?
Order before 17:00 on a working day and pay straight away and we ship the same day with PostNL. Within the Netherlands that usually means next day. Outside the Netherlands the delivery time depends on the destination.
What are coloured contact lenses?
Coloured contact lenses are cosmetic contact lenses that temporarily change the colour of your eyes. They have a transparent centre, so your pupil stays clear and you can see as normal. You can go for a subtle shade that lifts your own eye colour, or for a fully opaque lens that changes your look completely. They are also called coloured contacts or colour lenses.

Coloured lenses change your appearance in seconds, without you having to change anything else about your look. For a costume or a character they are often the difference between almost right and finished.
All coloured lenses in our range are yearly lenses, so with proper care you wear them again and again, season after season. They come without prescription and meet the European regulations for medical devices.
What do coloured contact lenses cost and when will you have them?
Most coloured contact lenses cost €17.99 a pair. A few sit higher, such as the 22 mm sclera lenses. Order before 17:00 on a working day and pay straight away, and your parcel leaves the same day with PostNL. Orders placed from Friday 17:00 onwards go out on Monday. Delivery times outside the Netherlands depend on the destination.
Remember lens solution and a lens case if you do not have them yet. Without solution you cannot store your lenses.
How do you put coloured contact lenses in?
Wash your hands and dry them first. Place the lens on your index finger with the curved side down, pull your upper eyelid up and your lower eyelid down with your other hand, and rest the lens on your eye. One blink and it settles into place.
The 22 mm sclera lenses need a different technique, because they cover a much larger part of your eye. You tuck them under your upper eyelid first and then let them settle downwards. Take your time and practise at home, not just before you head out.
How do you take them out and how do you store them?
Look up, pull your lower eyelid down slightly and lift the lens off your eye between thumb and index finger. Rinse the lens with lens solution and store it in a clean lens case with fresh solution. Never use water or saliva.
Change the solution every time. That is how your yearly lenses stay usable all year.
Which coloured contact lenses can you choose?
We sell coloured lenses in three groups. Natural shades such as blue, green, brown and grey for a subtle change. Bold lenses in white, red and black for a costume or a character. Halloween lenses for vampire, zombie and werewolf looks. All lenses come from Aricona .
Which lenses work on dark eyes?
On dark brown eyes only fully opaque lenses give a clear result. Lenses with transparent sections let your own eye colour show through, which makes the colour look different from the photo. If you are unsure about a particular lens, send us a message and we will think it through with you.

Tips from SchminkenGrime.nl
- Do not wear your lenses for the first time on the day itself. Practise a few days ahead so you know how they feel.
- Never share your lenses with anyone.
- If your eyes feel dry or irritated, take the lenses out straight away. If it continues, see an optician or a doctor.
- Have your eyes checked by an optician before you wear lenses for the first time, even for purely cosmetic use.
- Put your lenses in before you start painting, so you keep face paint out of your eyes.
