Ben Nye FX Creme Stack, Bruise
The Ben Nye FX Creme Stack Bruise is a targeted set of 5 creme shades for simulating bruises at every stage. From a fresh contusion to a healing discolouration: the five colours cover the full bruise progression.
- 5 creme shades for bruise evolution, fresh to healing
- Stack of 5 stackable pots, 42 g total
- Mixable, buildable in layers
- For SFX, trauma simulation, character makeup and theatre
What is the Ben Nye FX Creme Stack Bruise?
The FX Creme Stack Bruise is part of the Ben Nye FX Creme Stack range: compact sets of 5 targeted creme colours for specific SFX effects. The Bruise stack contains shades that follow the colour changes of a real bruise, from bright red-purple at the point of injury to yellow-green as it heals.
Alongside the Bruise stack you'll find the FX Creme Stack Age for ageing effects and the FX Creme Stack Burn for burn simulations. If you need a broader SFX set, the Ben Nye Ultimate FX Palette offers 18 creme colours in one palette.
Why choose the FX Creme Stack Bruise?
The five shades are specifically chosen to match the colour values of real bruising. That means you don't have to figure out which colours you need or mix from a general set. Choose this stack if you regularly create bruise simulations and want to work quickly without hunting for individual pots.
The creme formula is mixable and builds well in layers, giving you control over intensity. A subtle discolouration for a realistic healing bruise, or a deeply pigmented fresh contusion for camera or stage. The compact format fits easily in an on-set kit or theatre bag.
How to use the Ben Nye FX Creme Stack Bruise
Apply the creme using a foam sponge, palette knife or brush. A stipple brush works particularly well for replicating the look of subcutaneous bleeding.
- Layering: start with the lightest shade (Chrome Yellow or Sallow Green) as a base and build with Bruise or Midnite Violet for realistic depth and contrast.
- Mixing: blend shades on the skin or on a mixing palette for a custom colour that matches a specific stage of the bruise.
- Sheer effect: thin a small amount of creme with a few drops of isopropyl alcohol for a transparent wash, ideal for subtle under-skin discolouration.
Pro tip: for a convincing healing bruise, start with Chrome Yellow as a base, blend Sallow Green over the edges and lightly stipple Dark Burgundy or Midnite Violet in the centre. The yellow and green undertones immediately give the typical visual of a bruise that is several days old.
Setting and removal
Set the creme makeup with Ben Nye Neutral Set Powder applied with a powder puff or large brush. For extra durability, finish with a coat of Ben Nye Final Seal.
Remove the creme makeup with Ben Nye Quick Cleanse or Mehron Blank Canvas Remover, followed by lukewarm water and a gentle skin cleanser.
What can you use it for?
- Bruise simulations for film, TV and photography
- Trauma simulation for first aid training and scenario exercises
- Character makeup with bruising for theatre and live events
- Halloween and horror looks with realistic injuries
- Studio productions where colour accuracy on camera matters
- On-set touch-ups: compact format fits in any kit
