What is the Ben Nye Primary Creme Stack?
The Primary Creme Stack is a focused selection of five base cremes from the Ben Nye creme range. The five colours, FX-0 White, FX-8 Black, FX-12 Chrome Yellow, FX-31 Fire Red and FX-97 Blue, are designed as a mixing base for a wide range of looks and effects. You can expand your options by blending shades together or thinning the creme with a few drops of isopropyl alcohol for more transparent washes.
Compared to the FX Creme Stack Bruise, the FX Creme Stack Age and the FX Creme Stack Burn, this stack is the most versatile choice. Where the FX stacks focus on specific SFX effects, the Primary Stack gives you maximum mixing freedom.
Why choose the Primary Creme Stack?
Choose this stack when you want to work as broadly as possible with a small number of colours. White and black let you lighten or darken any shade. Red, blue and yellow are the starting point for mixing green, orange, purple and everything in between. That makes this set an ideal starting kit for anyone getting into creme make-up.
The compact stack format is kit-friendly. The five pots stack neatly into a slim profile that takes up very little space in a make-up bag or kit. For make-up artists working on location, that is a practical advantage.
How to use the Ben Nye Primary Creme Stack
Apply the creme with a sponge, spatula or brush, depending on the technique you need.
- Direct application: scoop a small amount of creme with a spatula or brush and apply directly to skin for a covering layer.
- Mixing: combine two or more shades on a mixing palette for custom colours. Add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol for a more transparent, wash-style application.
- Layering: build up coverage with multiple thin layers. Allow each layer a moment to settle before applying the next.
Setting and removal
Set the creme after application with Ben Nye Neutral Set Powder and a powder puff or large brush. For a more durable finish, follow up with a spray of Ben Nye Final Seal.
Remove the make-up with Ben Nye Quick Cleanse or Mehron Blank Canvas Remover, followed by warm water and a mild soap.
