What is Ben Nye FX Creme Stack, Burn?
The FX Creme Stack, Burn is one of three targeted FX stacks in the Ben Nye creme range, alongside the Bruise Stack and the Age Stack. Each stack brings together five colours that work as a coherent system, so you don't need to hunt down individual pots.
The Burn Stack contains five shades that build a burn progression from surface redness to deep charring. The colour logic is built into the selection, which means faster workflow on set. If you need a broader SFX palette with 18 colours, the Ultimate FX Palette is the natural step up.
Why choose the FX Creme Stack, Burn?
The five shades are not a random selection. Burnt Coral and Fire Red cover the surface heat zone, Medium Plum adds depth in crevices and subdermal tissue, Charcoal Blue simulates charring on peak areas, and Black works as a finishing accent for the most severe burns. Choose this stack when you're building burn looks and need to move quickly without digging through a larger palette.
The creme formula is mixable: add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol for a sheer wash, or apply the cremes directly for full coverage. This gives you multiple reads from the same five shades, from subtle surface redness to dramatic deep-burn. Pro tip: Start with Burnt Coral as a base layer across the whole wound area. Build up with Fire Red for the active heat zone. Work Medium Plum into the deepest crevices, then stipple Charcoal Blue onto peak areas for charring texture. Finish with a touch of Black at the darkest centre.
How to use Ben Nye FX Creme Stack, Burn
Apply the creme with a synthetic sponge, a spatula or a brush, depending on the technique you need.
- Direct application: work the creme onto the skin with a sponge or stipple brush for full, buildable coverage.
- Sheer wash: mix the creme with a few drops of isopropyl alcohol for a transparent layer that simulates under-skin texture.
- Layering: start light and build colour by colour, blending transitions so the burn gradation reads realistically from edge to centre.
Setting and removal
Set the creme colours with Neutral Set Powder using a powder puff or large powder brush. For extra durability on long shooting days, follow with Ben Nye Final Seal.
Remove the creme colours at the end of the day with Ben Nye Quick Cleanse or Mehron Blank Canvas Remover. Follow with warm water and a gentle skin cleanser.
