What is the Universal Horns Small?
A latex prosthetic shaped as two small horns that you apply to your forehead or the top of your head. The thin, finished edges blend smoothly into the skin, leaving no visible border. Remove the prosthetic carefully after use, clean it and store it dry - and you can use it multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No moulding, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges and painting. That is where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Universal Horns Small?
Hold the prosthetic dry against your forehead first to find the right position. Do this before you apply any adhesive.
Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting hold; for a quick fix you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive become tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto the skin.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outwards to the edges. Blend the edges using liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Multiple thin layers give the smoothest transition. Powder the edges well with setting powder before you start colouring the prosthetic.
Painting
Colour the prosthetic with water-activated face paint, grease paint or alcohol-activated makeup (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with grey or brown as a base, then work darker shadow into the grooves and add light highlights to the tips for depth and a realistic character effect.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder to prevent smudging. To remove, work a Pros-Aide remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic gently and rinse the skin with lukewarm water afterwards.
