The Woochie Latex Nose Tin Man is a latex nose prosthetic by Woochie for recreating the Tin Man look from The Wizard of Oz. Apply it over your own nose, colour it in, and your character is complete.
What is the Tin Man Nose?
A latex prosthetic shaped like a wide, angular nose that matches the Tin Man character. The thin, finished edges blend seamlessly into the skin. Remove the prosthetic carefully after use, clean it and store it dry - then you can use it multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No kneading, no waiting for dry time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges and colouring it in. That is where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Tin Man Nose?
Hold the prosthetic dry against your nose first to find the right position. Do this before you apply any adhesive.
Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting hold; for a quick fix you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive become tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto your skin.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outward to the edges. Blend the edges with liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Multiple thin layers give the smoothest transition. Dust the edges with setting powder before you start colouring the prosthetic.
Painting
Colour the prosthetic using face paint, greasepaint or alcohol-activated make-up (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with a silver-grey or tin base colour across the whole prosthetic, then add dark shadow into the grooves for depth and apply light highlights on the bridge and tip for a metallic effect.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing runs. To remove, work a Pros-Aide remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic gently and rinse the skin with lukewarm water afterwards.
