What is the Devils Horns Large?
A latex prosthetic in the shape of two large, sharp horns that you apply to your forehead or the top of your head. The edges are thinly finished so they blend seamlessly into your skin. Remove the prosthetic carefully after use, clean it and store it dry: that way you can use it multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No moulding, no waiting for dry times, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges and painting. That is where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Devils Horns Large?
Hold the horns dry against your forehead first to find the right position. Do this before you apply any adhesive.
Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting adhesion; for a quick hold you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive go tacky before pressing the horns onto your skin.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outward to the edges. Blend the edges with liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Several thin layers give the smoothest transition. Dust the edges with setting powder before you start painting the prosthetic.
Painting
Colour the prosthetic with face paint, grease paint or alcohol-activated make-up (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Use grey or brown as a base, then add dark shadow into the grooves and light highlights on the tips to create depth and volume.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing smudges. To remove, work a Pros-Aide remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic gently and rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
