Woochie Latex Monkey Ears
The Woochie Latex Monkey Ears are a latex ear prosthetic by Woochie for an ape character in Halloween, cosplay or theatre productions. Stick them on, colour them to match your skin tone or your chosen monkey look, and your character is complete.
What are the Monkey Ears?
A latex prosthetic shaped like large, rounded monkey ears. The edges are thinly finished so they blend smoothly into your own skin. Remove them carefully after use, clean them and store them dry - that way they can be used multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No moulding, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges and adding colour. That is where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Monkey Ears?
Hold the prosthetic dry against your ear first to find the right position. Do this before you apply any adhesive.
Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting hold; for a quick application you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive go tacky before pressing the prosthetic into place.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outwards towards the edges. Blend the edges with liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Several thin layers give the best transition. Powder the edges well with setting powder before you start colouring the prosthetic.
Painting
Colour the prosthetic with water-activated face paint, cream makeup or alcohol-activated makeup (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Match your skin tone for a subtle ape character, or go for a saturated brown-beige with dark accents along the contours for a fully realised monkey look.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing smudges. To remove, work a remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean Cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic gently and rinse your skin with lukewarm water.
