Woochie Latex Devil Ears
The Woochie Latex Devil Ears are a latex ear prosthetic by Woochie for a devil, demon or fantasy character. Apply them to your ears, paint them in, and your Halloween or horror look is complete.
What are the Devil Ears?
A latex prosthetic in the shape of pointed devil ears that you wear over your own ear. The edges are thin and flexible, blending smoothly into your skin. Remove them carefully after use, clean them and store them dry. That way they can be used multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No kneading, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges and painting. That is where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Devil Ears?
Hold the prosthetic dry against your ear first to find the right position. Do this before you apply any adhesive.
Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting hold; for a quick application you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive become tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto your skin.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outward to the edges. Then blend the edges with liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Multiple thin layers give the smoothest transition. Powder the edges with setting powder before you move on to painting the prosthetic.
Painting
Colour the prosthetic with water-activated face paint, grease paint or alcohol-activated make-up (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Match your skin tone for a subtle effect, or go for deep red, ash grey or dark purple for a striking devil character.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing smudges. To remove, work a Pros-Aide remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean Cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic carefully, then rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
