How to use Diamond FX face paint
Activate the face paint with a small amount of clean water. Spray a fine mist onto the compact with a spray bottle, or dip a well-squeezed sponge or damp brush directly into the paint. Clean water keeps colours vibrant and true - work with a water pot and refresh the water regularly between colours.
Tips for a professional result
- Use the right brushes. The FBFX Face Painting Brushes are made specifically for face paint with smooth synthetic bristles that leave no fibres behind. For detail work and linework, reach for the FBFX Round Face Painting Brushes.
- Use the right sponge. For covering large areas, use a Yellow Face Paint Sponge. Latex foam sponges are not suitable for face paint.
- Keep your water clean. A pot of clean water next to your work station prevents colours from mixing or turning dull.
- Barrier layer for sensitive skin or intense colours. Apply a thin layer of Marley Skin beforehand. This barrier coat makes removal easier and prevents staining with intense shades like sea green or magenta.
How to remove Diamond FX face paint
Remove face paint with mild, non-moisturising soap and cool to lukewarm water. Hot water opens up pores and allows pigment to sink deeper into the skin - avoid it. Gently work the soap in and rinse thoroughly. Repeat until all the colour is gone.
For a cleaner and quicker removal without scrubbing:
- Diamond FX Skin Soap - specially developed for removing Diamond FX face paint
- Remover Towel - a damp cloth that takes off the paint in one wipe, ideal at events and birthday parties where you paint many children in a row

Frequently asked questions
Why are there sometimes small cracks in the face paint?
Large temperature changes during storage or transport can cause the wax to expand and contract, resulting in surface cracks. They usually disappear with use. There is no effect on quality or shelf life.
Is Diamond FX safe for children?
Yes, Diamond FX is gluten-free, fragrance-, paraben- and lanolin-free and contains no animal ingredients. The colours in Tropic Topic are formulated with EU- and FDA-compliant cosmetic ingredients and suitable for the sensitive skin of children and adults. Always do a patch test 24 hours in advance if you have sensitive skin.
How many faces can you paint with 50 grams?
With a 50 gram compact you can paint approximately 15 to 22 full faces, depending on layer thickness and technique.
What is the difference between Essential, Metallic and Neon?
Essential is matte base face paint. Metallic has a glossy shimmer finish. Neon colours glow under UV/blacklight - Neon Blue, Violet and White are semi-transparent under regular light and only become vibrant under UV/blacklight; the other Neon colours are opaque and vivid.
Can you apply Diamond FX over other colours?
Yes, that is one of its strengths. The wax base and high pigmentation mean the top colour covers without the underlying colour showing through. Product photos are taken under professional daylight lamps without colour editing. Colours may vary slightly depending on screen settings.
Compliant with EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Product photos are taken under professional lighting. Colours may differ slightly depending on your screen settings.
