What ageing effects can you create with this wheel?
The colours in this wheel are matched to the subtle signs of skin ageing that theatre, film and prosthetics work constantly demands. Vein (FX-91) and Capillary Stipple (FX-13) give you the red-purple subcutaneous veining and broken capillaries. Liver Spot (FX-15) adds the yellowish discolouration of age spots, and Grey Purple (FX-9) lays in the hollow shadows that make a face read as genuinely old.
Because all four colours are coordinated, you do not need to search or mix with separate pots. You work straight away with the right shades for a convincing result.
When do you choose this wheel over individual crème colours?
This is the right choice when you regularly work ageing over latex or silicone prosthetics, or when you need to work quickly and compactly on location. All four colours sit side by side in one wheel, letting you switch between veining, spots and shadow without opening multiple pots.
The red and purple shades in this wheel are formulated in Ben Nye's ultimate effect formula, making them extra intense and blendable for subtle transitions on skin and prosthetics alike.
How to use it
Apply the crème with a Mehron Latex Foam Sponge for soft, stippled transitions, or use your fingers for warm blending. For sharp vein lines, work with a fine brush. The crème applies directly to skin as well as over latex, gelatine, wax, silicone and prosthetics. For a more transparent application, mix a small amount with 99% alcohol on a palette.
Pro tip: Start with Grey Purple for the deeper shadows in eye sockets and temples, then work Vein and Capillary Stipple outward from the temple and under the eyes with a fine brush, and finish with a light touch of Liver Spot on the cheekbones and nose for a convincing aged look.
Setting and removing
Crème makeup needs a setting powder to set. Apply it with a powder puff and dust away any excess with a brush. To remove, use a makeup remover such as Ben Nye Quick Cleanse, or soap and water.
