Encore Alcohol Activated Palette - Skintones Light with Adjusters
The Encore Alcohol Activated Palette - Skintones Light with Adjusters is a professional waterproof SFX palette with 10 colours, specifically formulated for building and adjusting light skin tones on skin, foam latex and silicone prosthetics. The palette contains five light skin tones (warm and cool), a neutral base and four adjusters for colour correction and tattoo cover-up.
European Body Art developed this palette for prosthetic work and character make-up where subtle tone adjustments make all the difference - matching a silicone prosthetic to an actor's actual skin tone, or covering tattoos and discolouration. What is an alcohol activated SFX palette?
Alcohol activated make-up is not activated with water but with cosmetic alcohol or a dedicated activator like EBA Fuel. This means the palette adheres to materials that water-based face paint simply slides off: foam latex, silicone, gelatine and fabric. Once applied, the make-up is waterproof, transfer-resistant and stays put for hours - even under heavy film lights or warm studio conditions.
Who is this palette for?
This palette is primarily aimed at SFX and prosthetic make-up artists who need to match or adjust light skin tones with precision. Think film and TV sets, theatre and haunt productions. That said, the dedicated hobbyist taking their first serious step into prosthetic work or tattoo cover-up will find everything they need here too.
The neutral N1 and four adjusters also make this palette a useful colour correction tool alongside an existing Encore kit. New to alcohol activated make-up? Start with thin washes - a wash is a diluted, semi-transparent layer - and build up gradually. The pigments are strong, so less really is more.
What colours are in this palette?
The 10 colours are built around three functions: neutral base (1 colour as a universal mixing base and concealer), light skin tones (5 colours, both warm and cool, for base layers and build-up) and adjusters for colour correction (4 colours for neutralising undertones, tattoo cover-up and colour correction). Use them individually or mix them together.
- N1 - neutral base, useful as a mixing colour and concealer
- W 1 - warm light skin tone, base layer for fair skin
- W 2 - warmer light tone for deeper warmth build-up
- W 3 - warmest tone in the range, suited to peachy undertones
- OLIVE - olive undertone for Mediterranean light skin tones
- C 1 - cool light skin tone, base layer for pale cool skin
- C 2 - cooler tone for pink-pale skin tones
- TEAL BLUE - blue-green adjuster for veining and cool correction
- ROSE - pink adjuster for warmth and subtle flush effects
- CORAL - coral pink adjuster for cancelling blue undertones
How to use it
Activate the make-up with EBA Fuel Spray or 99.9% isopropyl alcohol on a round brush or stipple brush. Work in thin washes - thin layers give more depth and control than a single thick application. The make-up dries within seconds and is then waterproof. Mix colours on the white mixing surface in the lid to dial in a custom tone.
Pro tip: Start with N1 or W 1 as an even base layer on the prosthetic. Work ROSE or CORAL in thin washes to bring the prosthetic closer to the actor's skin tone. Use TEAL BLUE along the temple and wrist veining. Finish with W 3 or OLIVE for a warm flush on the cheeks and nose.
Skin safety and skin prep
The Encore formula is made with cosmetic alcohol and FDA-compliant pigments. For sensitive skin: patch test on a small area of the inner elbow first. Avoid application on broken skin, eye mucous membranes and lips.
For extra adhesion and protection against transfer, apply a thin layer of EBA ProSeal Spray or EBA H2O Seal before or after application.
Setting and removing
Alcohol activated make-up is intrinsically waterproof once dry - no extra setting product needed. To remove at the end of the day, you'll need a dedicated remover. Water and soap alone won't cut it.
- EBA Unveil - alcohol-free, hydrating remover for sensitive skin and the face
- EBA Vapore - alcohol-based remover for fast, thorough removal, including on prosthetics
- Mouldlife Life-Wipes - make-up remover wipes that also remove skin adhesives like Pros-Aide

- Theatre and stage productions with long performance runs
- Prosthetic work on foam latex and silicone
- Tattoo cover-up and skin tone evening
- Colour correction and tone-matching for prosthetics
