Diamond FX Essential Grey 30gr - wax-based face paint

The Diamond FX Essential Grey 30gr is a professional wax-based face paint known for its high pigmentation and strong coverage. Because of the wax base, you can easily work in layers without colours bleeding into each other. With this 30 gram pot you can paint 10 to 15 full faces.

Diamond FX Essential is hypoallergenic, gluten-free, and free from animal ingredients, parabens, fragrance and lanolin. The Essential range is formulated with EU- and FDA-compliant cosmetic ingredients and suitable for the skin of children and adults. Browse all our Diamond FX Essential colours.

How to use Diamond FX face paint

Activate the face paint with a small amount of clean water. Spray a fine mist onto the paint using a spray bottle, or use a well-squeezed sponge or damp brush. Clean water keeps your colours clear and bright - work with a water pot and refresh the water between colours.

Tips for a professional result

  • Use the right brushes. The FBFX Face Paint Brushes are designed specifically for face paint, with smooth synthetic bristles that don't shed. For detail work and line work, use the FBFX Round Face Paint Brushes.
  • Use the right sponge. For large areas, use a Yellow Face Paint Sponge. Latex foam sponges are not suitable for water-activated face paint.
  • Keep your water clean. A pot of clean water next to your workspace prevents colours from mixing or turning dull.
  • Barrier layer for sensitive skin or intense colours. Apply a thin layer of Marley Skin first. This barrier makes removal easier and prevents staining with intense shades like turquoise, dark green or dark blue.

How to remove Diamond FX face paint

Remove the face paint with mild, non-moisturising soap and cool to lukewarm water. Hot water opens the pores, allowing pigment to sink deeper into the skin - avoid this. Gently work in the soap and rinse thoroughly. Repeat until all the face paint is gone.

For a cleaner and quicker removal without scrubbing:

  • Diamond FX Skin Soap - specially developed for removing Diamond FX face paint
  • Remover Towel - a damp wipe that takes off face paint in one swipe, ideal at events and children's parties

What to use Diamond FX Essential Grey for

  • Children's face painting - great as a base for animals, ghosts, skeletons and robot looks at birthday parties and events
  • Halloween and themed parties - zombies, ghosts, skulls, wolves, vampires and other grey-toned looks
  • Theatre and SFX - ageing effects, ashen skin tones, shadows and contour work
  • Cosplay and character makeup - robots, aliens, cyborgs and other futuristic or fantasy characters
  • Body painting - grey tones for black-and-white compositions, stone effects and hyperrealistic textures

Frequently asked questions

Why are there sometimes small cracks in the face paint?

Large temperature fluctuations during storage or transport can cause the wax to expand and contract, leading to surface cracks. They usually disappear once you start using the paint. There is no effect on quality or shelf life.

Is Diamond FX safe for children?

Yes, Diamond FX Essential is hypoallergenic, free from fragrance, parabens and lanolin, gluten-free and contains no animal ingredients. The Essential range complies with EU and FDA cosmetics guidelines. For sensitive skin, always do a patch test 24 hours in advance.

How many faces can you paint with 30 grams?

A 30 gram pot covers approximately 10 to 15 full faces, depending on layer thickness and technique.

What is the difference between Essential, Metallic and Neon?

Essential is a matte base face paint. Metallic has a glossy shimmer finish. Neon colours glow under UV/blacklight - Neon Blue, Violet and White are semi-transparent under regular light and only become vivid under UV/blacklight; the other Neon colours are opaque and vibrant.

Can you apply Diamond FX over other colours?

Yes, that's one of its key strengths. The wax base and high pigmentation ensure the top colour covers without the underlying colour showing through. Product photos are taken under professional daylight lamps without colour editing. Colours may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.
