How to use Diamond FX face paint
Activate the paint with a small amount of clean water. Mist the surface with a spray bottle, or use a well-squeezed sponge or damp brush. Clean water keeps your colours pure and bright - work with a water pot and refresh the water between colours.
Tips for a professional result
- Use the right brushes. The FBFX Face Paint Brushes are made specifically for face paint with smooth synthetic hairs that don't shed. For detail work and line work, pick up the FBFX Round Face Paint Brushes.
- Use the right sponge. For large areas, work with a Yellow Face Paint Sponge. Latex foam sponges are not suitable for water-activated face paint.
- Keep your water clean. A water pot with clean water next to your workstation stops colours from mixing and going dull.
- Barrier layer for sensitive skin or intense colours. Apply a thin layer of Marley Skin beforehand. This barrier coat makes removal easier and prevents staining (pigment residue) from intense colours applied over or next to white.
How to remove Diamond FX face paint
Remove with mild, non-moisturising soap and cold to lukewarm water. Hot water opens the pores and lets pigment sink deeper into the skin - you want to avoid that. Rub the soap in gently and rinse thoroughly. Repeat until all the face paint is gone.
For a cleaner and quicker removal without scrubbing:
- Diamond FX Skin Soap - specially developed for removing Diamond FX face paint
- Remover Towel - a wet wipe that takes the face paint off in one sweep, ideal at events and children's parties where you're painting face after face
What to use Diamond FX Essential White for
- Children's face painting and parties - base white for clowns, ghosts, tigers and other animal looks where white is used as a foundation or background colour
- Halloween and fancy dress - skull make-up, ghosts, vampires, zombie looks and other undead themes where a full white base builds the look
- Body painting - as a top coat for highlights, light reflections and contrast over darker base colours
- Cosplay and character make-up - face base for mimes, pierrot clowns, anime characters or as a covering layer between colour changes
- Theatre and SFX - clown make-up, ageing effects, pallor and lighting effects on the face or body

Frequently asked questions
Why are there sometimes small cracks in the face paint?
Large temperature fluctuations during storage or transport can cause the wax to expand and contract, leading to surface cracks. They usually disappear on their own when you start using the paint. There is no effect on quality or shelf life.
Is Diamond FX safe for children?
Yes, Diamond FX Essential is hypoallergenic, free from fragrance, parabens and lanolin, gluten-free and contains no animal-derived ingredients. The Essential range meets EU and FDA cosmetics guidelines. Always do a patch test 24 hours before use on sensitive skin.
How many faces can you paint with 90g?
A 90g tub gives you roughly 30 to 45 full faces, depending on layer thickness and technique.
What is the difference between Essential, Metallic and Neon?
Essential is a matte base face paint. Metallic has a glossy shimmer finish. Neon colours glow under UV/blacklight - Neon Blue, Violet and White are semi-transparent under regular light and only become vivid under UV/blacklight; the other Neon colours are opaque and vibrant.
Can you apply Diamond FX over other colours?
Yes, that is one of its strengths. The wax base and high pigmentation ensure the top colour covers fully without the underlying colour showing through. Product photos are taken under professional daylight lamps without colour editing. Colours may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.
Compliant with EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Product photos are taken under professional lighting. Colours may differ slightly depending on your screen settings.
