Marigold sits between yellow and orange - a warm, vivid tone that works perfectly for clown faces, sunflowers, pumpkins and carnival-style looks where you need a bold, punchy colour.
Blend it with other MagiCake colours like Fire Red or Sunshine Yellow for smooth colour transitions, or use it as a contrast against deep blue or purple for a striking effect.
When do you choose a single pot of Marigold over a palette?
Go for this single pot when Marigold is your primary base colour and you need to cover larger areas - a full face or a section of the body. A loose 7g pot goes much further than the same colour inside a palette.
It also makes sense if you already have the Primary Palette but burn through Marigold faster than the other colours.
How to use it
Activate with a slightly damp brush or sponge. The talc base picks up water a little more slowly than glycerine-based paints, so use slightly more water for an even layer. It dries within seconds and holds for several hours without a fixative.
Pro tip: For a sunflower cheek design, block in the petal shape with Marigold using a flat brush, edge the petals with Fire Red for warmth, then add a dot of Sunshine Yellow at the centre for depth.
Setting and removing
Marigold holds for several hours on its own. For extra durability in warm conditions or with lively children, seal with Ben Nye Final Seal once it has dried.
It removes easily with soap and water. For a thorough cleanse use a gentle make-up remover.
