What bruise and wound effects can you create with Deep Bruise?
Deep Bruise captures the darkest, most concentrated zone of a fresh bruise. Use it at the core of a black eye or contusion effect, for vein details, or as a shadow colour around fake wounds, latex appliances and stitches.
Blend it with Black & Blue for an ageing bruise, or layer with Maroon and Mustard Seed to build a multi-day wound that shifts convincingly from fresh to old.
When should you choose this single pot over a palette?
This pot is the right call if you already use Deep Bruise from the FX Palette and run through it faster than the other colours. A single pot is more economical when one shade does the heavy lifting in your kit.
If you don't have the FX Palette yet, that's the better starting point - it gives you all the supporting bruise tones in one go.
How to use it
Activate with a lightly damp brush or sponge. The talc base takes slightly more water than glycerine-based face paints, but it dries faster too - fully set within a few seconds.
Pro tip: Layer Deep Bruise at the centre of the bruise first, then blend outward with Black & Blue or Maroon. Finish with a barely-there edge of Mustard Seed for that yellowing older bruise look.
Setting and removing
The paint holds for several hours on its own. For a full-day SFX look, set it with Ben Nye Final Seal. Remove easily with water and soap or a gentle make-up remover.
