What looks and effects can you create with Grey?
Grey is the go-to colour whenever skin, hair or a face needs a cool, neutral tone. Think aged temple hair and sunken shadows, zombie skin, corpse colouring for horror looks, mime faces or shading contours in creature effects.
It also works as a base under darker colours. Laying Grey underneath gives cool and dark shades more depth straight away, so you need fewer layers to get there.
When does a single pot of Grey beat a palette?
If you regularly use grey as your dominant colour - for mime, ageing makeups or zombie looks where a large area needs even grey coverage - a single pot is more practical than a palette. You use less of the other colours and you always have a generous amount of Grey ready to go.
This pot is also the right choice if you already have Grey in a palette but find you run through it fastest, or if you simply want more of exactly this colour on hand.
How to use it
Activate with a slightly damp brush or sponge. Use a touch more water than you would with glycerine-based face paint, as talc absorbs water a little more slowly. The paint dries within seconds to a matte, smudge-resistant finish.
Pro tip: For a realistic ageing look, blend a small amount of Warm Brown or Honey Brown into the edges of the Grey so the tone fades naturally into the skin. Finish with a dry sponge for a parchment-like texture.
Setting and removing
Grey holds for several hours without a fixative. For a long day or heavy movement, set with Ben Nye Final Seal. Remove easily with soap and water or a makeup remover.
