What SFX and vampire looks can you create with Cranberry?
Cranberry is a dark red shade with a cool, purple undertone. That makes it ideal for blood simulation, vampire lips or building out wound colouring. The tone sits between a warm blood red and a deep purple discolouration, giving you a lot of flexibility for horror looks.
For SFX effects like aged bruises or injuries, Cranberry works well as a blending colour. Layer it with darker shades like Dark Burgundy or other purple-toned SFX colours to add depth around wound edges or haematoma effects.
When do you choose single Cranberry over a palette?
This pot makes sense when you already know the colour and want to restock it, or need a dedicated pot alongside a shared palette. For experienced artists working with multiple SFX shades at once, having your own Cranberry pot keeps things efficient on a busy call.
How to use Cranberry
Activate with a slightly damp brush or sponge. Talc-based formula absorbs water a bit more slowly than glycerin face paints, so use slightly more water for smooth application. The colour dries within seconds and stays put for hours.
Pro tip: For realistic wound edges, dab Cranberry dry with a sponge along the outer edge of a wound you have already built with Fresh Cut or Bright Red. The cool red-purple gives the impression of a slightly older, discoloured injury.
Setting and removing
The face paint holds for several hours without a setting product. For long performances or high-activity events, fix with Ben Nye Final Seal. Remove with soap and water or a make-up remover.
