Tinsley Transfers Head Wound 3D FX Transfer - Realistic Head Wound Prosthetic
The Tinsley Transfers Head Wound 3D FX Transfer is a self-adhesive 3D wound prosthetic that creates a horrifying open head wound on the forehead or temple. Developed by Hollywood FX artist Christien Tinsley, winner of the Academy Award for Technical Achievement (2008) for the Tinsley Transfer technique. Ideal for Halloween, theatre, and film productions. Apply it and your skin carries film-quality results.
- 3D wound prosthetic, hyper-realistic - no glue required
- Water-only activation
- Latex-free - suitable for most skin types
- Tissue-thin edges blend seamlessly into the skin
- Suitable for Halloween, theatre, and film sets
- Developed by an Academy Award-winning SFX artist
How do you apply the Head Wound 3D FX Transfer? (step-by-step)
- Prepare - Make sure the skin is clean, dry, and free of oil or make-up. Preferably hair-free in the application area. Have scissors, a damp sponge or cloth, and lukewarm water ready.
- Activate the transfer - Remove the card from the packaging. Carefully peel the transparent effect sheet away from the paper backing, then lay it FX-side down back onto the adhesive transfer paper. This keeps the prosthetic firmly in shape. Smooth out any air bubbles.
- Cut out - Cut the transfer out carefully without cutting into the edge of the prosthetic.
- Expose the adhesive side - Remove the transparent top layer to reveal the adhesive side.
- Position - Place the transfer on the forehead or temple and press down firmly. Do not shift it once placed.
- Transfer with water - Thoroughly wet the paper backing with your sponge or cloth. Wait approximately 30 seconds until the paper becomes translucent.
- Remove the backer - Carefully slide or peel away the paper. Pat dry and press the edges down again for a seamless blend.
- Finish - Complete the look with make-up and a little fake blood for extra depth and a convincing result.
Removal
- Remove any make-up and fake blood residue with warm water and a cloth.
- Lift a corner and gently roll the transfer off the skin. Remove any remaining adhesive with Mouldlife Life-Wipes or Remove-it All by Ben Nye. Then cleanse the skin with water.
Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)
- Not using enough water - make sure the paper backing is completely soaked through and translucent before you remove it.
- Shifting the transfer after placing - press it down immediately and leave it exactly where it is.
- Using too much fake blood - a subtle amount around the wound edge looks far more realistic than overdoing it.
