The Tinsley Transfers Slashed Flesh 3D FX Transfer is a self-adhesive 3D wound prosthetic that creates the look of a deep claw slash on your arm, leg or chest. It was designed by Hollywood FX artist Christien Tinsley, winner of the Academy Award for Technical Achievement (2008) for the Tinsley Transfer technique. You apply it with water only - no glue, no solvents - and the result looks like film-quality work straight on your skin.

How do you apply the Slashed Flesh? (step-by-step)

1. Prepare - Make sure the skin is clean, dry and free of oil or make-up. Ideally hair-free. Have scissors, a damp sponge or cloth and lukewarm water ready.
2. Activate the transfer - Remove the card from the packaging. Carefully peel the transparent effect sheet away from the paper backing and lay the sheet FX-side down back onto the adhesive transfer paper. This keeps the prosthetic firmly in shape. Smooth out any air bubbles.
3. Cut out - Cut the transfer out carefully, without cutting into the edge of the prosthetic.
4. Expose the adhesive side - Remove the transparent top layer so the adhesive side becomes visible.
5. Position - Place the transfer on your arm, leg or chest and press down firmly. Do not shift once placed.
6. Transfer with water - Wet the paper backing completely with your sponge or cloth. Wait about 30 seconds until the paper turns translucent.
7. Remove the backer - Gently slide or peel away the paper. Pat dry and press the edges down again for a seamless blend into the skin.
8. Finish - Add some make-up and a little fake blood for extra depth. A few drops inside the wound cavity make the effect immediately convincing.

Removal

1. First carefully remove any make-up and blood residue with warm water and a cloth.
2. Lift one edge and slowly roll the transfer away from the skin. Remove any adhesive residue with Mouldlife Life-Wipes or Ben Nye Remove-it All. Rinse the skin with water afterwards.

Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)

• Not enough water on the backer - use plenty of water and wait the full 30 seconds. Pulling too soon can tear the prosthetic.
• Shifting after placement - choose your position before pressing down. Once it is on, it stays on.
• Too much fake blood - a couple of drops deep in the wound cavity is far more convincing than overdoing it. Less is more.

The transfers are latex-free and made from cosmetic-grade materials. If you have sensitive skin, test first on the inside of your wrist, remove after 30 minutes and check for any irritation. Do not apply around the eyes or on sensitive skin. Not suitable as a toy and not recommended for children under 14.
