Mouldlife Silicone Pigments Dark Flesh, 100 grams

Mouldlife Silicone Pigment Dark Flesh is a highly concentrated pigment for colouring platinum silicones such as Polytek PlatSil Gel or Mouldlife Sculpt Gel. A single drop is enough to deeply colour a full batch of silicone, making it ideal for darker skin tones or as a rich base for blended hues.

  • Highly concentrated silicone pigment, platinum-compatible
  • Dark Flesh: ready-to-use darker skin tone, no mixing required
  • 100 grams per jar, enough for numerous prosthetics
  • Mixable with all 8 other colours in the range
  • Industry standard for prosthetic SFX worldwide

What skin tones and prosthetic effects do you create with Dark Flesh?

Dark Flesh is designed for deeper, warmer skin tones in platinum silicone prosthetics. Use it straight from the jar to match darker complexions, or blend it with Brown and a touch of Red to build complex, realistic undertones for ageing effects, creature prosthetics, or character work.

Because this pigment sits in the warm-brown spectrum, it also works as a deep base layer when you need to mix towards olive or copper tones. That saves you from having to overdose with Brown or Red separately.

When do you choose Dark Flesh over mixing from primaries?

Choose Dark Flesh when you regularly work with medium-to-dark skin tones and want a consistent starting point without mixing from scratch each time. It cuts down on batch-to-batch variation, which matters when you are replicating the same prosthetic across multiple casts.

If you work across a wide range of complexions, keep both Dark Flesh and Light Flesh in your kit alongside the primary colours. That way you can reach any skin tone quickly without overcomplicating your mix.

How to use Silicone Pigment Dark Flesh

Add the pigment to Part B of your platinum silicone before combining it with Part A. This gives you the full working time to distribute the colour evenly before curing begins. Start with a single drop and build up gradually until you reach the depth you need.

Pro tip: If you are using a deadener for a skin-like flexibility, add the pigment to Part B and the deadener to Part A, then combine both afterwards. Keep your dosage around 0.5% of the total silicone weight for clean dispersion without curing issues. Always test a small sample batch before committing to a full pour.

Storage and handling

Store the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry place. Stir or shake the pigment before each use to resuspend any settled pigment. Use a separate spatula for each colour to avoid cross-contamination between jars.

Dose carefully: this pigment is so concentrated that a single drop too many can make your mix unworkably dark. There is no fixing an overdosed batch once Part A and Part B are combined.

What can you use it for?

  • Colouring platinum silicone prosthetics for film, TV and theatre
  • Matching medium-to-dark skin tones in SFX prosthetics
  • Building deep base layers for ageing and creature effects
  • Blending with Brown, Red or White to fine-tune undertones
  • Any application using platinum silicone as the base material
