The Encore SLIM Alcohol Activated Palette - SFX Prime is a compact starter palette by European Body Art with 5 primary colours for alcohol activated SFX make-up. With Black, Blue, White, Red and Yellow you have the essential base shades to mix virtually any custom SFX colour.

What is an alcohol activated SFX palette?

Alcohol activated make-up is not activated with water but with cosmetic alcohol or a dedicated activator like EBA Fuel. That means it also adheres to surfaces where face paint slides right off: foam latex, silicone, gelatine and fabric. Once applied, the make-up is waterproof, transfer-resistant and stays put for hours, even under heavy film lights or warm studio conditions.

Who is this palette for?

The SLIM SFX Prime palette is made for the developing hobbyist and entry-level pro who wants to start working with alcohol activated make-up for the first time. With five primary colours you can mix virtually any SFX shade yourself, from wound tones to fantasy colours. The palette replaces a handful of individual pots and fits in any kit or bag.

New to alcohol activated make-up? Expect a few evenings of practice. Start with thin washes, a diluted translucent layer, and build up gradually. The pigments are strong, so less is more.

What colours are in this palette?

The 5 colours are built around two functions: primary base colours (3 shades for mixing any SFX colour) and neutral anchor colours (2 for highlights and deep shadows). Use them individually or combined.

• White - pure white base for highlights and lightening mixed shades
• Red - bright red for wounds, blood and colour mixing
• Yellow - primary yellow for skin tones, green and orange mixing
• Blue - primary blue for veins, fantasy and cool shadows
• Black - deep black for shadows, contouring and dark accents

How to use it

Activate the make-up with the included activator or 99.9% isopropyl alcohol on a round brush or stipple brush. Work in thin washes, thin layers build more depth than one thick coat. The make-up dries within seconds and is then waterproof.

Pro tip: Mix White and Yellow with a drop of Red for a base skin tone. Add Blue for a blue-purple bruise shade, or stir Black into Red for dark congealed blood. This way the five colours work as a complete SFX colour wheel.

Skin safety and skin prep

The Encore formula is made with cosmetic alcohol and FDA-compliant pigments. If you have sensitive skin, test on a small patch inside your elbow first. Avoid application on broken skin, eye mucous membranes and lips.

For extra adhesion and protection against transfer, apply a thin layer of EBA ProSeal Spray or EBA H2O Seal before or after application.

Setting and removing

Alcohol activated make-up is intrinsically waterproof once dry. No additional fixative needed. To remove at the end of the day, use a dedicated remover. Water and soap alone will not work.
