Encore Master Palette - SFX | Alcohol Activated

The Encore Master Palette SFX is a compact, alcohol activated SFX palette with 12 colours by European Body Art, built for trauma, wound, blood and decay effects. It covers the essential SFX colour range for realistic make-up on skin as well as foam latex and silicone prosthetics.

This is the Master version of the Encore range: a more compact format than the Full palettes, but with 12 colours instead of 10. Perfect for SFX artists who work on location or want more colour variety in a smaller kit. Browse the other Encore Alcohol Activated palettes for other themes and formats.

  • 12 alcohol activated SFX colours, waterproof once dry
  • Adheres to skin, foam latex, silicone and latex prosthetics
  • Compact magnetic palette with removable inlay separator
  • Activate with EBA Fuel Spray or 99.9% isopropyl alcohol
  • FDA-compliant ingredients, made in Costa Mesa (California)

What is an alcohol activated SFX palette?

Alcohol activated make-up is not activated with water but with cosmetic alcohol or a dedicated activator like EBA Fuel. That means it bonds to surfaces where water-based face paint simply slides off: foam latex, silicone, gelatine and fabric. Once applied and dry, it is waterproof, transfer-resistant and stays in place for hours, even under hot studio or stage lighting.

Who is this palette for?

This palette suits SFX artists who need a compact, mobile kit, as well as advanced hobbyists looking for an all-round SFX palette. The 12 colours replace a handful of separate pots and carry enough variety for hundreds of looks. The magnetic case lets you rearrange the colour pans to match your own workflow.

New to alcohol activated make-up? Start with thin washes and build up gradually. The pigments are concentrated, so less product gives more depth.

What colours are in this palette?

The 12 colours are built around three functions: prime mixing shades as a base (5 colours for skin tones and primary colour mixing), SFX effect colours (4 for wounds, blood, veins and discolouration) and dark accent and shadow shades (3 for depth, decay and extreme shadows). Use them individually or blend them together.

  • Pale Dead - pale grey-white skin tone for corpse and death effects
  • Prime Blue - bright blue primary mixing colour
  • Prime Yellow - bright yellow primary mixing colour
  • Prime Red - bright red primary mixing colour
  • Prime Green - bright green primary mixing colour
  • Vein Tone - blue-green shade for realistic veins
  • Vein Blood - dark red for vein blood and deep wounds
  • Bruise Purple - blue-purple for bruising and contusions
  • Nicotine Stain - yellow-brown discolouration for skin folds and lip lines
  • Dirty Brown - smear colour for dirt, decay and weathering effects
  • Night Swamp - deep green-black for extreme shadow and rot effects
  • Black Coral - deep black for shadows, wrinkles and hollows

How to use it

Activate the colour with EBA Fuel Spray or 99.9% isopropyl alcohol on a round brush or stipple brush. Work in thin washes, thin layers build more depth than a single thick coat. The colour dries within seconds and is then waterproof.

Pro tip: Start with Pale Dead as a light base on skin or prosthetic. Work Vein Tone and Bruise Purple in thin washes along the temples, jawline and eyelids. Add depth with Dirty Brown or Night Swamp in hollows and skin folds. Finish with Black Coral for hard shadows and Vein Blood for deep wound accents.

Skin safety and skin prep

The Encore formula uses cosmetic alcohol and FDA-compliant pigments. For sensitive skin: patch test on the inside of the elbow first. Avoid applying to broken skin, eye mucosa and lips.

For extra adhesion and protection against transfer, apply a thin layer of EBA ProSeal Spray or EBA H2O Seal before or after application.

Setting and removing

Alcohol activated make-up is intrinsically waterproof once dry. No additional setting spray is needed. To remove it at the end of the day you will need a dedicated remover. Water and soap on their own are not enough.

  • EBA Unveil - alcohol-free, hydrating remover for sensitive skin and the face
  • EBA Vapore - alcohol-based remover for fast and thorough removal, including prosthetics
  • Mouldlife Life-Wipes - remover wipes that also take off skin adhesives such as Pros-Aide

What can you use it for?

  • Film, TV and professional SFX make-up
  • Theatre and stage productions with long run times
  • Prosthetic work on foam latex and silicone
  • Trauma and wound effects: lacerations, abrasions and bleeding
  • Decay and corpse looks: discolouration, vein detail and dead tissue
  • Cosplay and character transformations
  • Halloween and horror looks where you want to go beyond standard face paint
