Acrylic One Resin, 3 kg Base Material
Acrylic One (A1) is a water-based two-component acrylic resin: an acrylate liquid combined with a calcium sulphate powder. Together they form a strong, lightweight and fire-resistant material for prosthetics, moulds, props and artwork. No solvents, no VOC emissions, a working time of 20-25 minutes, and easy to apply by casting, spatula, brush, roller or spray.
- Water-based acrylate system, no VOC emissions
- Fire-resistant and low smoke during curing
- Working time 20-25 minutes after mixing
- Mix ratio 1:2 by weight (1 kg Liquid + 2 kg Powder)
- Lightweight result, mechanically strong
- Made in the Netherlands by Active Composite Technologies
What is Acrylic One base material?
The 3 kg starter pack contains the two components you need to begin working with A1: 1 kg A1 Liquid and 2 kg A1 Powder, in the standard mixing ratio of 1:2 by weight. Acrylic One is manufactured in the Netherlands by Active Composite Technologies (Stellendam) and was developed as a safer, more sustainable alternative to polyester and epoxy resins.
The material is water-based, fire-resistant, bonds well to porous substrates, and can be applied by casting, spatula, rotation, rolling or spraying. That makes it suitable for a wide range of projects - from life-cast positives and support moulds to decoration, restoration and hardcoating EPS or foam objects.
Why choose Acrylic One?
Choose A1 if you need a professional material that you can work with safely in a small workshop or on larger production runs. No organic solvents, no harsh fumes, and a working time that gives you enough room to work carefully without halting production.
With the available modifiers you can fine-tune the properties to suit your application - accelerated cure, extended working time, lower viscosity for casting or spraying, or thickened to a filler consistency. That flexibility makes A1 suitable for a very broad range of techniques and object sizes.
How to mix Acrylic One?
Getting the ratio right is essential: 1 part A1 Liquid to 2 parts A1 Powder, by weight. Always weigh it out - never estimate by eye.
Work in a well-ventilated space and always wear nitrile gloves when weighing and mixing to avoid skin contact. Pro tip: Add Acrylic One Accelerator 1 kg directly to the A1 Liquid before incorporating the powder. That way the accelerator distributes evenly and you avoid localised curing differences in your piece.
Finishing and sealing
After curing you get a matt, slightly porous surface. You can sand it, fill it or finish it directly. For extra reinforcement, laminate the surface with Acrylic One Triaxial Fibre. For a smoother filler coat, thicken the mix with ATP Powder.
Seal the finished piece with Acrylic One Sealer PLUS, available in three finishes:
- Sealer PLUS Matt - natural, non-reflective surface
- Sealer PLUS Satin - soft sheen, ideal for prosthetics with a skin-like appearance
- Sealer PLUS Gloss - high-gloss finish for decorative pieces and props
What is Acrylic One used for?
- SFX prosthetics and rigid mask parts
- Support moulds and negative-positive life-casts
- Props and set dressing for theatre, film and cosplay
- Hardcoating EPS and foam objects
- Decoration, model-making and restoration
