Woochie Latex Eaten Away
The Woochie Latex Eaten Away is a ready-to-use wound application from Woochie for a realistic eaten-away skin effect. Apply it, colour in layers with make-up and fake blood, and your horror, Halloween or SFX look is complete.
What is the Eaten Away?
A latex prosthetic in the shape of eaten-away, torn-open skin with a rough, layered surface. The thin, finished edges blend seamlessly into your skin so the transition is barely visible. Remove the prosthetic carefully after use, clean it and store it dry - it can be used multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No kneading, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges, colouring and adding blood. That's where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Eaten Away?
Hold the prosthetic dry against your skin first to find the right position. Do this before you apply any adhesive.
Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting adhesion; for a quick fix you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive go tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto your skin.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outwards towards the edges. Then blend the edges with liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Multiple thin layers give the best transition. Powder the edges with setting powder before moving on to colouring the prosthetic.
Painting and blood
Colour the prosthetic with water-activated, greasepaint or alcohol-activated make-up (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with red-purple in the depth of the eaten-away wound, then a bluish edge, then drying blood along the sides. For the blood effect: fake blood inside the wound, and a drying layer on the surrounding skin.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing runs. To remove, work a Pros-Aide remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic gently and rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
What can you use it for?
- Halloween make-up for a convincing zombie or corpse effect
- SFX shoots and film productions requiring realistic wounds
- Haunted houses and horror events with high visitor throughput
- Cosplay centred on a horror character or undead victim
- Practice work for trainee make-up artists learning prosthetic techniques
