What is the Steampunk Set?

A latex character set with multiple prosthetic pieces for the face, designed for a steampunk character. The thin, finished edges blend smoothly into the skin for a realistic result. Remove the prosthetics carefully after use, clean them, and store them dry - they can be reused multiple times.

Why does this prosthetic work so well?

No moulding, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work goes into blending the edges and painting the pieces. That is where you make the difference.

How do you apply the Steampunk Set?

Hold each piece dry against your face first to find the right position. Do this before applying any adhesive.

Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting hold; for a quick application you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive become tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto your skin.

Press each piece firmly from the centre outwards to the edges. Blend the edges using liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Multiple thin layers give the smoothest transition. Powder the edges well with setting powder before you move on to painting the prosthetics.

Painting

Colour the prosthetics using water-activated, grease, or alcohol-activated face paint (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with a skin-tone base that suits your look, add steampunk accents with browns and greys, and deepen the grooves and details with dark shadow tones. Light highlights on the raised surfaces bring the character to life.

Setting and removal

Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing smudges. To remove, work a remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All, or Pro-clean Cleansing Oil under the edges, gently lift the prosthetics away, and rinse the skin with lukewarm water afterwards.
