Woochie Latex Brain Matter
The Woochie Latex Brain Matter is a ready-to-use wound application from Woochie for horror, Halloween or SFX looks. Apply the prosthetic to your head, colour it in, add fake blood and your horror look is complete.
What is the Brain Matter?
A latex prosthetic shaped like exposed, oozing brain matter. The thin, finished edges blend smoothly into the skin, giving the prosthetic realistic depth and texture. Remove it carefully after use, clean it and store it dry - it can be used multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No sculpting, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work goes into blending the edges, painting it in and adding blood. That is where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Brain Matter?
Hold the prosthetic dry against your head first to find the right position. Do this before applying any adhesive.
Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting adhesion; for a quick fix you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive go tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto the skin.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outwards to the edges. Blend the edges using liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Multiple thin coats give the best transition. Powder the edges well with setting powder before you start painting the prosthetic.
Painting and blood
Colour the prosthetic using water-activated face paint, greasepaint or alcohol-activated make-up (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with red-purple in the depths of the brain matter, then a bluish edge, then drying blood along the sides. For the blood effect: add fake blood into the wound, and let a drying layer spread onto the surrounding skin.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing smears. To remove, work a remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean Cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic gently and rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
What can you use it for?
- Halloween costume with a realistic brain injury look
- SFX shoots for film, photography or theatre productions
- Haunted houses and horror events requiring a fast turnaround
- Cosplay of zombies, mutants or sci-fi victims
- Practice material for make-up artists in SFX training
