EBA Transfusion Blood Vails The Blood, 8ml
EBA Transfusion Blood The Blood is the signature deep-red film blood from European Body Art, now in an 8ml vial for on-set touch-ups and kit additions. The cellulose formula dries waterproof, transfer-proof and smudge-proof on skin, without the stickiness and running that comes with syrup-based bloods. The Blood is a deep medium-dark red with a slight yellow undertone - the shade most associated with heavy bleeding. Part of the EBA Transfusion Blood range.
- Deep red medium-dark, the colour of heavy bleeding - EBA's signature shade
- Cellulose formula, syrup- and sorbitol-free
- Waterproof, transfer-proof, fast-drying
- Holds its shape for drips, drops and deep wound effects
- 8ml vial - touch-up and kit top-up size, designed and produced in Costa Mesa, USA by European Body Art
What makes Transfusion Blood different from other film blood?
Most film blood formulas are syrup- or sorbitol-based. They stick, run, smear and need constant touch-ups - exactly what you don't want on a long shoot day. Transfusion Blood takes a different approach. The cellulose base dries to a high-gloss wet look that doesn't tack, doesn't smudge and doesn't transfer.
Once dry, the blood stays exactly where you put it. Drops hold their shape, deep wounds keep their texture and spatters stay sharply defined. For film, theatre and haunted houses, that means working without constantly reapplying.
How to apply The Blood
Apply The Blood directly from the vial using a brush, sponge or dropper. Different tools give different effects:
- Ben Nye Mini Splatter Brush for realistic blood spatters and spatter patterns
- FBFX duo-fibre stipple brush for wound texture and depth
- A fine brush for sharp drips, cut effects and blood streaks
Pro tip: For deep wound effects with The Blood, build up layers rather than applying everything at once. Let the first layer dry for 30 seconds, then add a second layer at the centre of the wound for a 3D drip effect. The slight yellow undertone in this shade adds realism to wounds automatically - more convincing than a flat red.
How long does it last and how to remove it
The Blood lasts 24 to 72 hours on skin, depending on placement and friction. No setting is needed - the cellulose formula cures to a permanent result on its own. That's great on a film set, but removal does need the right approach. By situation:
- On skin: Start with EBA Vapore 60ml - EBA's dedicated remover. Spray or press Vapore onto the blood layer and leave for 30-60 seconds so the cellulose releases. Then dab gently with a cotton pad or soft cloth. Don't rub - dabbing dissolves more than scrubbing. For residual staining after Vapore: warm water with mild soap, dabbing.
- On fabric or clothing: Rinse immediately with cold water - warm water sets the stain. Follow with stain remover or washing powder before laundering.
- Near eyes or on sensitive skin: Avoid alcohol-based remover near eyes. Use mild soap and water or a cleansing oil instead.
- On latex or silicone prosthetics: Vapore works here too, but leave it for 1-2 minutes for deeper layers.
Combine with other SFX palettes for complete wound looks

- The Blood - deep red medium-dark (heavy bleeding, EBA's signature blood)
- Dark Blood - dark (dead or undead characters, older wounds)
- Scab Tone - deep brown scab colour (blood crusts, healed wounds)

Safety and storage
Designed for ages 14 and over. Avoid application near mouth, eyes, nose and ears. The Blood may cause temporary discolouration on skin and can stain clothing - work in old clothes or on protected sets.
For best adhesion, clean skin with 70% isopropyl alcohol before application, avoid lotions and oils on the area, and pat dry with a towel (don't rub). Store the vial in a cool dry place with the cap closed tight.
