EBA Transfusion Blood Scab Tone, 60ml
EBA Transfusion Blood Scab Tone is a deep brown scab-tone stage blood from European Body Art for wound crust effects, healed wounds and shadow blending. The cellulose formula - no syrup, no sorbitol - dries quickly to a high-gloss wet look that does not stick, does not smudge and stays waterproof. Scab Tone has a dominant brown-yellow hue that mimics the colour of dried and aged blood. Part of the EBA Transfusion Blood range.
- Deep brown scab colour, dominant brown/yellow tone - colour of old and dried blood
- Cellulose formula, syrup- and sorbitol-free
- Waterproof, transfer-proof, fast drying
- Holds shape for drips, drops and deep wound effects
- 60ml bottle (2 oz), designed and produced in Costa Mesa, California by European Body Art
What makes Transfusion Blood different from other film blood?
Most film blood formulas are syrup- or sorbitol-based. They stick, run, smear and need constant touch-ups - exactly what you do not want on a long shoot day. Transfusion Blood breaks with that formula. The cellulose base dries to a high-gloss wet look that does not stick, does not smudge and does not transfer.
Once dry, the blood stays exactly where you put it. Drips hold their shape, deep wounds keep their texture and splatter patterns stay sharply defined. For film, theatre and haunted houses you can work without constantly going back to touch up.
How to apply Scab Tone
Apply Scab Tone directly from the bottle using a brush, sponge or dropper. Different effects call for different tools:
- Ben Nye Mini Splatter Brush for realistic blood splatter and spatter patterns
- FBFX stipple brush for wound texture and crust depth
- A fine detail brush for sharp crust edges, cut-line borders and blood streaks
Pro tip: Build up Scab Tone in thin layers around the edge of a wound - not in the centre. The brown-yellow tone gives the discoloured crust look you see on a wound that is 24 to 48 hours old. Mix a drop of Scab Tone into Dark Blood or The Blood for a darker, aged blood with more brown in the undertone.
How long does it last and how to remove it
Scab Tone stays on skin for 24 to 72 hours depending on placement and friction. No setting product is needed - the cellulose formula dries to a lasting result on its own. Removal does require the right approach for each situation:
- On skin: Start with EBA Vapore 60ml - the official EBA remover. Spray or press Vapore onto the blood layer and leave for 30-60 seconds to let the cellulose release. Then dab gently with a cotton pad or soft cloth. Do not rub - dabbing removes more than scrubbing. For any remaining staining after Vapore: warm water with mild soap, dabbing. A faint brownish shadow may linger on lighter skin and will fade within a few hours.
- On fabric or clothing: Rinse immediately with cold water - warm water sets the stain. Then treat with stain remover or laundry detergent before washing.
- Near eyes or on sensitive skin: Avoid alcohol-based remover near the eyes. Use mild soap and water or a cleansing oil instead.
- On latex or silicone prosthetics: Vapore works here too, but allow 1-2 minutes for deeper layers to release.
Combine with other SFX palettes for complete wound looks

Compare with the other Transfusion colours

- The Blood - deep red medium-dark (heavy bleeding, signature EBA blood)
- Dark Blood - dark with brown and blue undertone (dead or undead characters, older wounds)
- Scab Tone - deep brown scab colour (wound crusts, healed wounds, shadow blending)

Safety and storage
Designed for ages 14 and over. Avoid application near the mouth, eyes, nose and ears. Scab Tone may cause temporary skin discolouration and can stain clothing - work in protective clothing or on protected sets.
For best adhesion, clean the skin with 70% isopropyl alcohol before applying, avoid lotions and oils on the application area and blot dry with a towel (do not rub). Store in a cool dry place with the bottle tightly closed.
