EBA Transfusion Blood Vails Scab Tone, 8ml
EBA Transfusion Blood Scab Tone is a premium film blood by European Body Art in a deep brown scab colour, designed for blood crust effects and old wound make-up. The cellulose formula dries quickly to a high-gloss finish without sticking - unlike syrup-based blood. This 8ml vial is the touch-up size from the EBA Transfusion Blood range, ideal for on-the-go use or topping up your kit.
- Deep brown scab colour with dominant brown/yellow undertone
- Cellulose formula, syrup- and sorbitol-free
- Waterproof, transfer-proof, fast-drying
- Holds shape for drips, crust texture and deep wound effects
- 8ml vial, designed and produced in Costa Mesa, USA by European Body Art
What makes Transfusion Blood different from other film blood?
Most film blood formulas are syrup- or sorbitol-based. They stick, run, smear and need constant touch-ups - exactly what you don't want on a long shoot day. Transfusion Blood breaks that pattern. The cellulose base dries to a high-gloss wet look that doesn't tack, doesn't smudge and doesn't transfer.
Once dry, the blood stays exactly where you put it. Drips hold their shape, deep wounds keep their texture and crust effects stay sharply defined. For film, theatre and haunted houses you work without constantly having to touch up.
How to apply Scab Tone
Apply Scab Tone directly from the vial using a brush, sponge or dropper. Different tools give you different effects:
- Ben Nye Mini Splatter Brush for crust texture and irregular wound patterns
- FBFX duo-fibre stipple brush for wound texture and depth around the crust
- A fine brush for sharp edges and thin crust layers along wound borders
Pro tip: Stipple Scab Tone in layers around a wound edge for a realistic crust effect. Mix it with Dark Blood for a transition shade between fresh wound and healed crust, or blend with The Blood for intermediate blood crust shadow tones.
How long does it last and how to remove it
Scab Tone lasts 24 to 72 hours on skin, depending on placement and friction. No fixing is needed - the cellulose formula dries to a lasting finish on its own. Removal does require the right approach. By situation:
- On skin: Start with EBA Vapore 60ml - the official EBA remover. Spray or dab Vapore onto the blood layer and leave for 30-60 seconds so the cellulose releases. Then gently dab with a cotton pad or soft cloth - dabbing dissolves more than rubbing. For remaining discolouration after Vapore: warm water with mild soap, dabbing.
- On fabric or clothing: Rinse immediately with cold water - warm water sets the stain. Then treat with stain remover before washing.
- Around eyes or on sensitive skin: Avoid alcohol-based remover near eyes. Use mild soap and water or a cleansing oil instead.
- On latex or silicone prosthetics: Vapore works here too, but allow 1-2 minutes to penetrate deeper layers.
Combine with other SFX palettes for complete wound looks
For realistic wound make-up, combine Scab Tone with European Body Art's Encore Alcohol Activated palettes:
- Encore Injury palette for bruising, contusions and skin discolouration around the wound
- Encore Tormented palette for haunt FX and horror themes
- Encore Autopsy palette (Bruce Spaulding Fuller) for cadaver and post-mortem effects
Compare with the other Transfusion colours
The Transfusion Blood range has 4 colours, each for a different blood stage:

- The Blood - deep red medium-dark (heavy bleeding, signature EBA blood)
- Dark Blood - dark with brown and blue undertone (dead or undead characters, older wounds)
- Scab Tone - deep brown scab colour (blood crusts, healed wounds)

Safety and storage
Designed for ages 14 and up. Avoid application near mouth, eyes, nose and ears. The blood can cause temporary skin discolouration and may stain clothing - work on set clothes or protected surfaces.
For best adhesion, cleanse skin with 70% isopropyl alcohol beforehand, avoid lotions and oils on the application area, and pat dry with a towel (do not rub). Store the product in a cool dry place with the vial tightly closed.
