EBA Transfusion Blood Bright Blood, 60ml
EBA Transfusion Blood Bright Blood is the bright arterial fake blood from European Body Art, developed for film, theatre and professional SFX work. Where syrup-based stage blood sticks, runs and smears, Transfusion Blood dries to a high-gloss wet look that stays put and won't transfer. Bright Blood has a subtle yellow-brown plasma undertone that replicates fresh arterial blood - ideal for nosebleeds, fresh cuts and arterial blood effects. Part of the EBA Transfusion Blood range.
- Fresh arterial bright red with yellow-brown plasma undertone
- Cellulose formula, syrup- and sorbitol-free
- Waterproof, transfer-proof, fast drying
- Holds shape for drips, drops and deep wound effects
- 60ml bottle (2 oz), designed and produced in Costa Mesa USA by European Body Art
What makes Transfusion Blood different from other film blood?
Most film blood formulas are syrup- or sorbitol-based. They stick, run, smear and need constant touch-ups - exactly what you don't want on a long shoot day. Transfusion Blood breaks with that formula. The cellulose base dries after application to a high-gloss wet look that doesn't stick, doesn't smudge and won't transfer.
Once dry, the blood stays exactly where you placed it. Drips hold their shape, deep wounds keep their texture and spatters stay sharply defined. For film, theatre and haunted houses, this means you can work without constant touch-ups.
How to apply Bright Blood
Apply Bright Blood directly from the bottle using a brush, sponge or dropper. Different effects call for different tools:
- Ben Nye Mini Splatter Brush for realistic blood spatter and splatter patterns
- FBFX stipple brush for wound texture and depth
- A fine brush for sharp drips, cut effects and thin blood lines from the nose or corner of the mouth
Pro tip: For a convincing nosebleed, draw a thin line of Bright Blood from the nostril downwards with a fine brush. Let it dry for 30 seconds, then add a single drop directly from the bottle at the nostril for an active drip effect. The yellow-brown plasma undertone immediately gives the result that fresh, oxygen-rich arterial quality.
How long does it last and how to remove it
Bright Blood lasts 24 to 72 hours on skin, depending on placement and friction. No fixative needed - the cellulose formula dries itself to a lasting result. Removal does require the right approach. By situation:
- On skin: Start with EBA Vapore 60ml - EBA's official remover. Spray or dab Vapore onto the blood layer and leave 30-60 seconds for the cellulose to release. Then gently dab with a cotton pad or soft cloth. Don't rub - dabbing dissolves more than scrubbing. For residual staining after Vapore: warm water with mild soap, dabbing.
- On fabric or clothing: Rinse immediately with cold water - warm water sets the stain. Then treat with a stain remover before washing.
- Around eyes or on sensitive skin: Avoid alcohol-based remover near the eyes. Use mild soap and water or a cleansing oil instead.
- On latex or silicone prosthetics: Vapore works here too, but leave it to soak in for 1-2 minutes for deeper layers.
Combine with other SFX palettes for complete wound looks
