How to use Diamond FX face paint
Activate the face paint with a little clean water. Mist the surface with a spray bottle, or dip a well-squeezed sponge or damp brush into the paint. Clean water keeps colours bright and true - use a water pot and refresh the water between colours.
Tips for a professional result
- Use the right brushes. The FBFX Face Paint Brushes are made specifically for water-activated face paint with soft synthetic fibres that leave no fluff. For detail work and fine lines, reach for the FBFX Round Face Paint Brushes.
- Use the right sponge. For large green areas, use a Yellow Face Paint Sponge. Latex foam sponges are not suitable for water-based face paint.
- Keep your water clean. A water pot with fresh water beside your kit prevents colours mixing or turning dull.
- Barrier layer for sensitive skin or intense colours. Apply a thin layer of Marley Skin before painting. This barrier makes removal easier and prevents staining from intense colours like dark green.
How to remove Diamond FX face paint
Remove with mild, non-moisturising soap and cool to lukewarm water. Hot water opens pores and lets pigment sink deeper into the skin - avoid it. Gently work in the soap and rinse well. Repeat until all colour is gone.
For a cleaner and quicker removal without scrubbing:
- Diamond FX Skin Soap - developed specifically for removing Diamond FX face paint
- Remover Towel - a damp cloth that lifts face paint in one wipe, ideal at events and birthday parties where you paint many faces in a row
What to use Diamond FX Essential Pine Green for
- Children's face painting - frogs, dinosaurs, dragons, snakes and other animal or fantasy characters at birthdays and parties
- Halloween and themed events - witches, monsters, zombies, aliens and green fantasy faces
- Cosplay and character makeup - green characters like Shrek, She-Hulk, orcs or goblins where coverage over other colours matters
- Theatre and SFX - base green for creature makeup, masks and special effects where you build up layers
- Body painting - large green areas for nature themes, camouflage looks or competition body painting

Frequently asked questions
Why are there sometimes small cracks in the face paint?
Large temperature changes during storage or transport can cause the wax to expand and contract, leading to surface cracks. They usually disappear with use. There is no effect on quality or shelf life.
Is Diamond FX safe for children?
Yes, Diamond FX Essential is hypoallergenic, free from fragrance, parabens and lanolin, gluten-free and contains no animal ingredients. The Essential range meets EU and FDA cosmetics guidelines. Always do a patch test 24 hours in advance for sensitive skin.
How many faces can you paint with 30g?
A 30g pot covers approximately 10 to 15 full faces, depending on layer thickness and technique.
What is the difference between Essential, Metallic and Neon?
Essential is matte base face paint. Metallic has a glossy shimmer finish. Neon colours glow under UV/blacklight - Neon Blue, Violet and White are semi-transparent under regular light and only become vivid under blacklight; the other Neon colours are opaque and vibrant.
Can you apply Diamond FX over other colours?
Yes, that is one of its key strengths. The wax base and high pigmentation mean the top colour covers without the underlying colour showing through. Product photos are taken under professional daylight lamps without colour editing. Colours may vary slightly depending on screen settings.
Compliant with EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Product photos are taken under professional lighting. Colours may differ slightly depending on your screen settings.
