How to use Diamond FX face paint
Activate the face paint with a small amount of clean water. Mist the surface lightly with a spray bottle, or use a well-squeezed sponge or damp brush. Clean water keeps colours bright and true - work with a water pot and refresh it between colours.
Tips for a professional result
- Use the right brushes. FBFX Face Paint Brushes are made specifically for face paints with smooth synthetic bristles that leave no fluff. For detail work and line work, reach for the FBFX Round Face Paint Brushes.
- Use the right sponge. For larger areas, work with a Yellow Face Paint Sponge. Latex foam sponges are not suitable for water-activated face paint.
- Keep your water clean. A fresh water pot next to your workspace stops colours from mixing or turning dull.
- Barrier layer for sensitive skin or intense colours. Apply a thin layer of Marley Skin beforehand. This barrier coat makes removal easier and prevents staining (pigment residue) with intense shades like bright blue, turquoise or dark green.
How to remove Diamond FX face paint
Remove with a mild, non-moisturising soap and cool to lukewarm water. Hot water opens the pores and drives pigment deeper into the skin - avoid it. Work the soap in gently and rinse thoroughly. Repeat until all the face paint is gone.
For a cleaner, quicker removal without scrubbing:
- Diamond FX Skin Soap - specially developed for removing Diamond FX face paint
- Remover Towel - a damp cloth that lifts face paint in one wipe, ideal at events and children's parties where you're painting one face after another

Frequently asked questions
Why are there sometimes small cracks in the face paint?
Large temperature changes during storage or transport can cause the wax to expand and contract, leading to surface cracks. They usually disappear as soon as you start using the paint. There is no effect on quality or shelf life.
Is Diamond FX safe for children?
Yes, Diamond FX Essential is hypoallergenic, fragrance-, paraben- and lanolin-free, gluten-free and contains no animal-derived ingredients. The Essential range meets EU and FDA cosmetics guidelines. Always do a patch test 24 hours in advance on sensitive skin.
How many faces can you paint with 30g?
A 30g pot covers approximately 10 to 15 full faces, depending on layer thickness and technique.
What is the difference between Essential, Metallic and Neon?
Essential is a matte, water-activated face paint. Metallic has a glossy shimmer finish. Neon colours glow under UV/blacklight - Neon Blue, Violet and White are semi-transparent under regular light and only come fully alive under blacklight; the other Neon colours are opaque and vivid.
Can you apply Diamond FX over other colours?
Yes, and that is one of its strengths. The wax base and high pigmentation mean the top colour covers without the colour underneath showing through. Product photos are taken under professional daylight lamps without colour editing. Colours may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.
Compliant with EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Product photos are taken under professional lighting. Colours may differ slightly depending on your screen settings.
