Mouldlife Siliglass 1kg Kit | Fake Glass Liquid
Mouldlife Siliglass is a two-part silicone system that cures to a fully clear, glass-like finish. It is designed for making fake glass effects such as crystals, glass shards, ice cubes and other transparent props for film, theatre and Halloween.
- Crystal-clear platinum-cure silicone, 1:1 mix ratio
- Safe for actors: no sharp edges or cut risk
- Cures brittle over time for realistic shattering effects
- 1 kg kit for multiple prop projects
- Compatible with silicone pigments for tinted effects
What transparent props can you make with Siliglass?
Siliglass cures to a crystal-clear, glass-like replica. You can use it to cast crystals, ice cubes, glass shards and any other transparent prop where real glass would be a safety risk. The cured silicone has no sharp edges, which makes it safe to handle for actors during performance.
As the cured material ages, it becomes harder and more brittle. That is actually useful: if you need a breakaway glass effect or realistic shards, you can build that behaviour into your prop by timing when you use it.
When do you choose Siliglass over a rigid casting resin?
Rigid resins like polyurethane can shatter into genuinely sharp fragments. Siliglass stays flexible enough to avoid injury, while still looking convincingly like glass. That combination makes it the standard choice for productions where actors handle or throw props on set.
Choose Siliglass when you need a crystal-clear casting that has to pass a safety check. The 1 kg kit gives you enough material for several props, and the 1:1 mix ratio keeps measuring straightforward.
How to use Siliglass
Prepare your mould with Macwax mould release for clean demoulding. Mix Part A and Part B in a 1:1 ratio until fully combined. If you want a tinted effect, add a small amount of silicone pigments at this stage. Pour into the mould and tap gently to release air bubbles. Demould within 30 to 60 minutes of mixing to prevent crumbling.
Pro tip: Avoid contamination from sulphur-based clays, amines, tin compounds, polyester resins and other silicones. Even trace amounts can inhibit cure. Use dedicated clean tools and gloves for every mix.
Safety and removal
Siliglass does not produce sharp edges when broken, which is why it is preferred over real glass on set. Store Part A and Part B sealed in a cool, dry place away from contaminants. Dispose of cured silicone as solid waste according to local regulations.
