Ben Nye Latex for Sensitive Skin, 59ml
Ben Nye Latex for Sensitive Skin is a liquid rubber latex from Ben Nye, developed specifically for those who react to standard Liquid Latex. The formula contains reduced ammonia, making it gentler on sensitive or exceptionally dry skin. You use it just like regular latex: for wounds, blisters, aged skin, prosthetics and loose appliances. This 59ml bottle is the introductory size, ideal for testing whether it suits your skin before committing to larger quantities.
What is Ben Nye Latex for Sensitive Skin?
Ben Nye Latex for Sensitive Skin is a liquid rubber latex. You apply it in a stippling motion using a non-latex foam sponge, allow each layer to dry, and build up to the effect you want. Working pieces of tissue or cotton between layers gives you 3D texture. You can also make your own latex paste by mixing the latex with flour to create larger effects.

Latex for Sensitive Skin is developed for those who react to standard Liquid Latex. The reduced ammonia concentration causes less irritation. For regular SFX work on non-sensitive skin, go for Liquid Latex Clear or Liquid Latex Light Flesh Tone.
Why choose this latex?
Versatile 3D medium: one bottle for wounds, blisters, aged skin, prosthetics and loose appliances. No mould or casting technique required.
Suitable for sensitive skin: the reduced ammonia in the formula means less skin irritation. Ideal for clients or performers with sensitive or exceptionally dry skin who still want SFX.
Professional standard: Ben Nye Latex for Sensitive Skin is used in theatre, film, cosplay and special effects makeup. This 59ml bottle covers multiple SFX sessions and is the ideal size to get to know the product properly.
How to use the latex
Step 1: patch test. Do a patch test at least 24 to 48 hours beforehand on the inside of your wrist. Even with Latex for Sensitive Skin your skin may still react. Sensitive skin requires extra caution.
Step 2: prepare the skin. Cleanse and degrease the skin. Do not apply latex to hair, eyebrows or the eye area. On areas with body hair, we recommend applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly to prevent pulling when you remove the latex.
Step 3: stipple onto the skin. Shake the bottle before use. Apply the latex with a stipple sponge using a stippling motion, or with a non-latex foam sponge for a smoother surface. Allow each layer to dry until the milky colour turns transparent.
Step 4: build up for 3D. For deeper wounds or thicker texture, build up extra layers. Between layers you can work in pieces of tissue or cotton for extra dimension.
Step 5: powder and colour. Finish the dried latex with a thin layer of Neutral Set Powder. This removes the shine and makes colouring easier. Then colour with cream makeup, alcohol-activated makeup or Magicake aquacolor.
Pro tip from Linda: Build your effect in multiple thin layers rather than one thick one. Let each layer dry fully until transparent before applying the next. Thin layers dry faster, bond better to each other and create a more lifelike relief than a single thick mass. Want to speed up the process? Use a hairdryer on the cool setting to dry each layer faster.
Setting and removal
The latex adheres to the skin on its own and does not need additional fixing.
To remove, peel off: gently roll the dried latex up from one edge. A greasy cream can help make this easier. After removing the latex your skin may look a little red. This is normal and usually fades within 20 to 30 minutes. With Latex for Sensitive Skin the redness is usually less pronounced, but always apply a moisturising cream directly after removal to support skin recovery.

- Long shoot days with multiple applications where skin comfort matters
