What SFX effects can you create with this latex?

Liquid Latex is one of the most versatile SFX materials you can have in your kit. Apply it in thin layers to build fake skin, ageing wrinkles, burns, and blistered textures. Press cotton wool or tissue into wet latex for raised 3D surfaces, then seal with additional layers for a smooth, skin-like finish.

The Light Flesh shade means you spend less time colour-matching afterwards. On fair to medium skin tones it blends in without a preparatory colour layer, so you can move straight to detailing and finishing. For darker skin, choose Mehron Liquid Latex Dark Flesh; for a translucent effect, use Mehron Liquid Latex Clear; for a zombie tint, go with Mehron Liquid Latex Zombie. For sensitive skin, there is Ben Nye Latex for Sensitive Skin, which contains less ammonia.

How to use it

Shake well before use. If applying near hair growth, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the skin first to prevent the latex sticking to hairs. Stipple thin layers onto the skin using a non-latex foam sponge or brush, letting each layer dry fully before adding the next. For 3D texture, press cotton wool or pieces of tissue into the wet latex, then build further layers on top for a seamless finish. Once dry, colour-match with cream make-up, face paint, or alcohol-activated make-up. Add blood effects with Mehron Coagulated Blood Gel or Mehron Stage Blood.

Pro tip: for a latex paste (ideal for covering larger areas in one go), mix the latex with a small amount of plain flour until you reach a thicker consistency. One layer of paste can do the work of five to ten individual latex layers.
