What SFX effects can you create with Mehron Liquid Latex Clear?

Mehron Liquid Latex is a liquid rubber latex applied to skin in thin layers. You stipple it on with a non-latex foam sponge, let each layer dry, and build up to the effect you want. Pressing cotton wool or tissue between wet layers gives you 3D texture for wounds, burns and ageing effects. The Clear variant dries transparent, so your natural skin tone stays visible underneath. Effects work on every skin colour without any preparatory colour-matching. For a skin-toned finish choose Mehron Liquid Latex Light Flesh or Mehron Liquid Latex Dark Flesh. For a greenish zombie finish there is also Zombie Latex. For sensitive skin, Ben Nye Latex for Sensitive Skin contains less ammonia.

How to use Mehron Liquid Latex

Step 1: prepare. Shake well before use. Avoid applying to areas of hair growth without first applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the skin.

Step 2: build up layers. Apply a first thin layer with a non-latex foam sponge or brush. Let it dry completely before adding the next layer.

Step 3: add texture (optional). While the latex is still wet, press cotton wool or pieces of tissue into it for 3D texture. Work additional layers of latex over the cotton wool for a seamless finish. Step 4: finish with make-up. Once dry, colour the latex with cream make-up, water-activated face paint or alcohol make-up to match your skin. Add blood effects with Mehron Coagulated Blood Gel or Mehron Stage Blood. Pro tip: for a paste effect that covers large areas quickly, mix the latex with a little flour to a thicker consistency. This paste achieves in one layer what would otherwise take 5-10 layers.

• Patch test on a small area before full application

Removing

Peel the latex away gently from the skin. Remove any residue with warm water and soap.
