Ben Nye Wrinkle Stipple, 59ml

Ben Nye Wrinkle Stipple is a thinner liquid latex for creating fine wrinkles, crow's feet and subtle skin texture. The lighter viscosity lets you build up delicate lines and realistic micro-texture that heavier latex simply cannot achieve. Ideal for character ageing, lip lines and fine skin folds on the neck area. This 59ml bottle is the go-to size for focused wrinkle work.

What is Ben Nye Wrinkle Stipple?

Ben Nye Wrinkle Stipple is a liquid rubber latex with a lower viscosity than regular Liquid Latex. You stipple it onto the skin, let each layer dry, and gradually build up a realistic wrinkle effect. The milky liquid dries almost transparent, keeping your own skin tone visible.

Wrinkle Stipple is thinner than regular Liquid Latex. For built-up 3D effects like wounds and prosthetics, reach for the thicker Ben Nye Liquid Latex Clear.

Why choose this latex?

Versatile for ageing detail: one bottle for crow's feet, fine lip lines, corner-of-mouth texture and subtle neck folds. No mould or casting technique required.

Thinner formula for fine wrinkles: the lighter viscosity makes it possible to build up delicate lines and micro-texture. For crow's feet, fine skin folds and realistic ageing where thicker latex is too heavy.

Professional standard: Ben Nye Wrinkle Stipple is used in theatre, film and special effects. This 59ml bottle is enough for multiple full ageing looks.

How to use the latex

Step 1: patch test. Do a patch test on the inside of your wrist at least 24 hours before use. Latex allergy is not uncommon; check that your skin tolerates it before you proceed.

Step 2: prepare the skin. Clean and degrease the skin. Do not apply latex in the hair, on the eyebrows or near the eye membrane. On hairy areas we recommend applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly first to prevent pulling when you remove the latex.

Step 3: stipple onto the skin. Shake the bottle before use. Stretch the skin taut and apply the latex with a stipple sponge in stippling movements. Release the skin and it forms a fine wrinkle texture. Let each layer dry until the milky colour turns transparent before applying the next one.

Step 4: build up for 3D. For deeper wrinkles or more texture, build up extra layers. Between layers you can work in small pieces of tissue or cotton for added dimension.

Step 5: powder and colour. Finish the dried latex with a thin layer of Neutral Set Powder. This removes the shine and makes colouring easier. Then colour with crème make-up, alcohol make-up or Magicake aquacolor.

Pro tip from Linda: Build your effect up in multiple thin layers rather than one thick coat. Let every layer dry completely transparent before adding the next. Thin layers dry faster, bond better to each other and create a more lifelike relief than a thick mass. Want to speed up the process? Use a hair dryer on the cool setting to dry each layer more quickly.

Setting and removal

The latex adheres to the skin by itself and does not need additional setting.

Remove it by peeling off: gently roll the dried latex from one edge. A greasy cream can help to loosen it. After removal the skin may look a little red - this is normal and fades within 20 to 30 minutes. If you have sensitive skin, apply a moisturising cream to help the skin recover.

What can you use it for?

  • Crow's feet and fine wrinkles around the eyes
  • Lip lines and corner-of-mouth texture for character ageing
  • Skin folds on the neck area
  • Fine skin texture for subtle ageing effects
  • Micro-detail in SFX and theatre ageing looks
