The Tinsley Transfers Tattoo Burned Alive Trauma FX is a 2D temporary tattoo transfer that recreates severely burnt, charred skin on the arm, leg or torso. Designed by Hollywood SFX artist Christien Tinsley, winner of the Academy Award for Technical Achievement (2008) for the Tinsley Transfer technique. Applied with water only, this tattoo delivers film-quality results directly on your skin.

How do you apply the Burned Alive? (step-by-step)
- Prepare - Make sure your skin is clean, dry and free from oil or make-up. Grab a pair of scissors, a damp sponge or cloth and lukewarm water.
- Cut out - Cut the transfer generously around the desired shape, following the outer edge of the design.
- Remove the top layer - Gently peel off the transparent protective film to reveal the adhesive side.
- Apply + activate - Place the tattoo adhesive-side down onto the arm, leg or torso and press firmly. Dampen the paper backing completely with your wet sponge and wait about 30 seconds until the paper becomes translucent.
- Remove paper + finish - Slide the paper gently to one side. The tattoo remains on your skin as a detailed print. Finish with a touch of fake blood for extra impact.
Removal
- Remove any make-up and blood residue with warm water and a cloth.
- Lift an edge and roll the transfer gently away from the skin. Remove any remaining adhesive with Mouldlife Life-Wipes or Ben Nye Remove-it All. Cleanse the skin with water afterwards.
Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)
- Pulling the paper off too soon - wait until the backing is fully translucent. Removing it early causes the tattoo to tear or stick to the paper instead of your skin.
- Not pressing the transfer down firmly - press the tattoo firmly across the entire surface before wetting. Air bubbles underneath will show up as white patches in the final result.
- Too much fake blood on top - a thin layer is convincing; a thick coat masks the burn texture that makes the effect so realistic. Less is more.
