Superstar Non Latex Foam Sponge (4 pcs)
The Superstar Non Latex Foam Sponge is a smooth, closed-cell foam sponge for applying cream make-up, greasepaint, alcohol-based make-up and liquid latex evenly and with good coverage. Its fine texture distributes make-up evenly without streaks or patches. Latex and alcohol-based make-up also remain on the surface instead of being absorbed deep into the sponge. Packed per 4 pieces, so you can use a clean sponge for each colour or layer.
Please note: this sponge is not suitable for water-based face paint. Due to its closed-cell structure, the sponge is not porous enough to hold water properly. As a result, water-based face paint is harder to activate and cannot be picked up or distributed evenly.
What is the Superstar Non Latex Foam Sponge?
The sponge has a flat, round shape that fits comfortably in your hand for both dabbing and sweeping techniques. Its non-latex composition makes this sponge suitable for people with a latex allergy and provides a more hygienic alternative to natural latex sponges.
How do you use this foam sponge?
For cream make-up and greasepaint: dab the sponge into the greasepaint on your palette or in the container and apply it to the skin using dabbing or sweeping movements. The fine texture distributes the product evenly without streaks or patches, making it suitable for both small facial details and larger areas of the body.
For alcohol-based make-up: thanks to the closed-cell structure, alcohol-based make-up remains on the surface of the sponge more effectively. This allows you to work precisely with thin, transparent layers, skin textures and realistic special effects.
For liquid latex: thanks to the closed-cell structure, Mehron Liquid Latex mainly remains on the surface of the sponge. This helps you use less product and apply the latex more evenly than with a natural sponge.
Use a clean sponge for each colour or layer: use a separate sponge for every colour or layer to prevent the colours from mixing. The package contains 4 sponges for both professional and home use.
Please note: a sponge that has been used for latex usually cannot be reused. The latex clogs the structure of the sponge, causing it to become hard. Therefore, use a clean sponge for each new layer or application.
Care and cleaning
Do you only use the sponge for cream make-up, alcohol-based make-up or greasepaint? Clean it immediately after use with lukewarm water and a mild soap or cleanser. Gently squeeze out the sponge without wringing it, as this may damage its structure, and then allow it to air-dry.
In practice, however, these sponges are often used as disposable sponges when working with greasepaint and alcohol-based make-up. Especially for special effects make-up, many make-up artists deliberately choose to use a clean, new sponge for each project or colour.
