FBFX Flocking Skin, 20g
FBFX Flocking Skin consists of very fine fibres that you add to silicone or gelatine when making a prosthetic. The Skin shade is a natural flesh tone that's often used as a base. From there you add other Flocking colours to give the skin exactly the right tone and finish.
What is FBFX Flocking?
FBFX Flocking are fine coloured fibres developed specifically for making realistic prosthetics. You mix the fibres into silicone or gelatine before the material cures.
Unlike standard pigments, the fibres don't dissolve. They stay visible in the material and create small variations in colour like you see in real skin. As a result, a prosthetic looks more natural and less flat.
The Skin variant is most often used as a base colour. You then add other shades to build redness, shadow, warmth or a sickly undertone. Combine it with Crimson for blood-flushed skin, with Shamrock for a sickly undertone, with Deep Black for shadow work, or with Dark Gold for warmer flesh tones.
Why choose Flocking Skin?
- Natural base colour: ideal as a starting point for building realistic flesh tones.
- Realistic skin effect: the fibres stay visible in the material and add more depth than pigment alone.
- Suitable for gelatine and silicone: straightforward to use across different prosthetic types.
- Easy to mix: works for small and large projects.
- Blends well: mix with other Flocking colours for a unique skin tone.
How do you use Flocking Skin?
Add a small amount of Flocking Skin to your gelatine or silicone before the material cures. Mix thoroughly so the fibres are evenly distributed.
Building a specific skin tone? Use Skin alongside other Flocking colours in small amounts until you reach the result you want.
Always start with a small amount. You can add more later, but too much Flocking can thicken the mix and make it harder to work with.
