Woochie Latex Shredded
The Woochie Latex Shredded is a ready-to-wear wound application by Woochie for a torn, shredded skin effect. Apply it, paint it in layers, add fake blood and your horror, Halloween or SFX look is complete.
What is the Shredded?
A latex prosthetic in the shape of torn, peeled-back skin with ragged edges and visible depth. The thin, finished edges blend smoothly into your skin so the transition is barely visible. Remove the prosthetic carefully after use, clean it and store it dry, and it can be used multiple times.
Why does this prosthetic work so well?
No kneading, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shredded shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges, painting the colours and adding the blood. That is where you make the difference.
How do you apply the Shredded?
Hold the prosthetic dry against the desired spot on your skin first to find the right position. Do this before applying any adhesive.
Apply a thin, even layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard choice for long-lasting hold; for a quick fix you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive become tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto your skin.
Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outwards to the edges. Then blend the edges with liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Several thin layers give the best transition. Powder the edges well with setting powder before you start painting the prosthetic.
Painting and blood
Paint the prosthetic with water-activated, grease or alcohol-activated face paint (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with red-purple in the depth of the tear, then a bluish edge around it, then drying blood along the sides. For the blood effect: add fake blood inside the wound itself, and apply a drying layer on the surrounding skin for a dripping effect.
Setting and removal
Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing smudges. To remove, work a remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean Cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic gently and rinse the skin with lukewarm water afterwards.
What can you use it for?
- Halloween costume with a realistic shredded skin wound
- SFX shoots and horror film productions
- Haunted houses and horror events with high throughput
- Cosplay as a zombie, horror victim or creature character
- Practice work for make-up artists learning wound techniques
