The Woochie Latex Gash set is a ready-to-apply wound prosthetic from Woochie, consisting of three latex deep slash wounds for horror, Halloween and SFX looks. Apply them, paint them in, add blood and your look is complete.

What is the Gash set?

A set of three latex prosthetics shaped like deep, gaping slash wounds. The edges are finished thin so they blend smoothly into the skin. Remove them carefully after use, clean them and store them dry. That way you can use them multiple times.

Why does this prosthetic work so well?

No moulding, no waiting for dry time, no liquid latex you have to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges, painting them in and adding blood. That is where you make the difference.

How do you apply the Gash set?

Hold each prosthetic dry against your skin first to find the right position. Do this before you apply any adhesive.

Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and to your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting hold. For a quick application you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive become tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto the skin.

Press each prosthetic firmly from the centre outward to the edges. Then blend the edges using liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Several thin layers give the smoothest transition. Dust the edges well with setting powder before you start painting the prosthetics.

Painting and blood

Colour the prosthetics using face paint, grease paint or alcohol-activated make-up (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with red-purple deep in the wound, add a bluish edge and work drying blood along the sides. For the blood effect: apply fake blood inside the wound and a drying layer on the surrounding skin.

Setting and removal

Set your colour work with setting powder so nothing runs. To remove, work a remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetics carefully and rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
